The Peace and Joy That Godliness Brings

God designed the earth to be a home for us to enjoy. It was a beautiful, perfect place full of love, peace, and joy where human beings walked in close fellowship with the God in whose image they’d been created. Then they chose to rebel against their Creator, to reject his loving plan and design for them. Their sin separated them from him, grieving his heart, and producing evil, suffering, and death. 

It is the same with each of us today and no amount of our good deeds can bridge that chasm 

(Isa. 64:6). But God has provided a way–the only way. The Bible tells us about his son Jesus and all he taught about right living before he died on a Roman cross to pay the penalty for our sins. If we admit that we have sinned, turn our backs on those sins and yield our hearts and lives to him, the chasm closes. We are brought back into close fellowship with the Father as our hearts and minds are transformed with a new desire to follow his words. Then as Isaiah 32:17 says, peace and quietness of soul will come and we will have the confidence of his love for us as his beloved sons and daughters for eternity.  

Being a child of God offers no immunity from the suffering the rest of the world experiences. But the Lord does promise to strengthen us and always be with us. Still, as people here give their hearts to him through Jesus, and live according to his principles, joy, peace, and harmony will increase. Families, societies, and nations will be healed and filled with his glory. 

PRAYER: Father God, I thank you that you opened the way towards a life of peace and joy through your son, Jesus Christ. I turn to him and embrace your holy ways. AMEN.
