God's Divine Agenda for Humanity

Alongside the history of the human race there has always been a divine agenda by an all-supreme God. God has related to and dealth with human beings in various ways from thousands of years ago to the present time. Some theologians refer to this as dispensations.

     If a person doesn't believe in dispensationalism, or whatever one might call it, is not really the point. It is very evident from reading the Bible from cover to cover that God has always been in control, both politically and spiritually. The world order or administration has been expressed in Colossians 1:16. "For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities..."  Psalm 135:6 adds, "The Lord does whatever he pleases, in the heavens and on the earth..."

     Much of the time God's divine agenda may not be obvious, but God has many times chosen to reveal it through how he interacts and communicates with people. Each of these dispensations has a label. Before the fall of Adam there was innocence. After the fall until the Noahic Flood the emphasis was put upon conscience. After the flood until the call of Abraham God established human government as his agency for dealing with humanity. After Abraham to the Exodus from Egypt God had promises with conditions. Then for 1500 years the Law was given. When Jesus died and rose again we entered the dispensation of grace. This is also commonly referred to as the Church Age or Age of Grace. We are presently living in this era of God's administrative order. God hs dealt with humanity based upon each of the bold typed words above. Even though there may be some overlapping factors in these dispensations there is a predominence in each that links it with the label given it. For example, in the age of the law God many times demonstrated his grace.

     The Age of Grace in which we are now living will last until the Tribulation Period, which is rapidly approaching. In other words, humanity is toward the end of the Age of Grace. God's grace period has a time limit! The next period in God's administration will be one of judgment for those who have not responded to his grace.

     Folks, I wonder how many Christians even are aware of the time in history in which we live. God is closing down one dispensation and transitioning to another. What a time to be living! It is an exciting time for Christians, but not so for non-believers who have rejected Christ.

     Christians will soon be caught up to God's presence as expressed in I Thessalonians 4:17, but those who have not put their faith and trust in the Lord God will be left behind to experience the worst judgment to ever fall upon the human race. Evil, immorality, Satan worship, horrendous weather, world-wide epidemics, plagues, unprecedented earthquakes, the control of the anit-christ with the mark of the beast, 666, over the world's economic system, a one-world religion, and more, will all take place during this time.

     What we are seeing now is only a small sample of what is to come at an ever increasing intensity. World conditions and events are all leading up to God dealing with humanity with judgment. The Tribulation will last seven years, a short time compared with over 2,000 years of grace. Two-thousand years of grace compared with only seven years of judgment. I would say that is an indication of how loving God is! Many people will come to know the truth of God‘s saving grace even during the Tribulation, but some will still not.

     There is one more dispensation, called the Kingdom of God on earth, lasting 1,000 years after the earth and humanity has been judged and cleansed. God will rule. Jesus Christ will have come back to earth. There will be total peace. Satan will be defeated once and for all time.

     I will say it again. We are living at the end of a historically biblical era in which God has been dealing with individuals, nations, and humanity as a whole, out of grace. Grace is unmerited or undeserved favor. There has never been anyone who has ever lived who has been out of reach of God's grace, yet people have rejected it. The world, with all of its problems that have gotten worse, not better, has never realized after 2,000 years that just maybe the real underlying problem has been its refusal to acknowledge the Creator and Sustainer. It has not realized the sinful condition of the human heart and the need for God's grace. I Timothy 2:4 says that God has always desired for all people “to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

     Time is almost up. God's time clock is rapidly ticking down to zero. After the millenial age comes eternity. Where will you spend it, in God's presence, or separated from him?
