Author requests article critique

The woman (I’ll call her Abertha) walked into the clinic, her usual boisterous, joking self. The (former) attendant telling the story said Abertha disturbed her. While the attendant worked at the clinic because she wanted to help women, she expected some remorse. This client demonstrated none. And, they knew her well. Abertha had an appointment, this time for her ninth abortion.

When the doctor had finished and left the room, Abertha asked to see what was in the basin. This curiosity was something new. The attendant told her the policy was not to show the client. But, Abertha insisted, so the attendant brought the basin to her.

The silence of the clinic shattered with Abertha’s screams. “That’s a BABY! That’s MY baby!” she wailed, inconsolable, refusing to relinquish the basin that held the remains of her child. The weight of her regrettable decisions overwhelmed her so much that the clinic had to call for help to have her removed. This was Abertha’s baptism of fire, her point of no return, an awakening she never would have imagined.

In recent weeks, unbelievable votes, accompanied by even more incredible ovations and laughter, have hit the news. The response from the general public registered shock, like no amount of reporting by life-affirming groups for decades seems to have accomplished

In Albany, NY, an enormous auditorium filled with people gathered for a Day of Mourning. Thousands of weeping Christians, on their faces repenting and pleading for revival and mercy, cried out to the Lord. “Dear Jesus, help us. We are a wicked nation that murders babies. Help us.”

My dear pro-life worker friend Marcella Franseen wrote on Facebook: ‘...We are watching many of the leaders of our nation harden their hearts and the question is...where will it end? We often look back at the worst of human history and wonder, “How did that happen?” This, my friends, this is how it happened. Hearts that grew harder one degree at a time so that what was once unthinkable is applauded and even campaigned on.’

LTC Allen West (retired) pointed out the hypocrisy from the left in a post: ‘...this is the Party where, when there is a school shooting, they come after guns shouting, 'if it saves just one child's life!" Or, who went apoplectic when children were "ripped from their parents' arms" at the border….’

Even an award-winning poet, Roderick Falconer, reciting his haunting poem, "The Sex Life of Fire," uses an arresting juxtaposition of words to paint a word picture of the brutal reality of killing a baby: “cut off in ceremonies of lifeless latex hands...pierced by sterile unclean hands….”

The adversary, that man of lawlessness, is not only being revealed on many fronts, he is actually exposing himself. He must have thought he'd reached the level where any opposition had been so lulled to sleep that hiding his work was no longer necessary. But, thanks be to God, people of the Light are still serving as watchmen on the wall. The alarm has been sounding for decades. Perhaps, now, ears have been opened to hear and eyes opened to see the father of lies determined to steal, kill and destroy. We stand fast, knowing he is already a defeated foe, and his time is short. Hallelujah!
