I wandered in the valley of sin and despair
Not knowing there was someone to care
When I heard the Savior saying come unto me
I knew my loving master was to set me free
Now I trust in my Savior to lead day by day
To hold me fast least I fall along the way
He will never forsake me walking by my side
I will trust in Him forever with Him I will abide
I'm traveling on the pathway now to home
And from this way I will never more roam
When my journey is ended to meet up there
With all my friends and loved ones in the air
Come heavy-laden I will surely give you rest
Take My yoke and learn on Me for to confess
Your soul will clearly find true peace and joy
Your cares and burdens you will not employ
What is your take on life, right now? Are you pleased with yourself? Are you discouraged or soured on life? Have you practically given up on life? Well, please read on.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 )
Wow! This is probably the most beloved, the most important three words of Scripture. "Come To Me." This great invitation, extended to all, is three fold: (1) to come and receive salvation; (2) to learn in discipleship; and (3) to serve in yoke with the Lord. And, contrary to the teachings of that day's religious leaders, Jesus' yoke is easy.
Have you ever held out your arms to a small, innocent child, asking the child to come to your arms? This is exactly what our Savior is asking. He is waiting and willing to hold out His arms to all who will embrace His love.
This invitation of "COME TO ME" gives one a choice to leave a life of sin and follow Him. Plainly stated, this gives all a simple choice, to walk away from sin and walk to Him. You see, no one can truthfully read about Him, without being motivated to follow Him. Oh, you may read about Him in some secular history book. But sad to say, this knowledge may never lead to you trusting Him as your personal Savior.
So, wherever you are, on your life's journey, Jesus offers you the way to a lasting relationship with him, a way out of the sorrows of this life, into a life of eternal peace. All one need do is trust Him, to take Him by simple faith and accept His free grace. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Now, I have two questions.
What have you got to lose? A life of despair here on this earth, including an afterlife of eternal separation away from God in torment.
What have you got to gain? A life of peace here on earth, including an afterlife of eternal heavenly happiness with God, through His Son.
Oh, you don't believe in this religion stuff? Then I have a final question.
Do you actually believe you, being a mere human, can change the course of history, can change the plans of an all-powerful, all knowing Creator of this great universe of ours?
Well then, just flip a coin and you will have a 50-50 chance of complying with either question.
