Your Miracle is in Your House

YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE!

Now the wife of a son of the prophets cried to Elisha, your servant my husband is dead and you know that your servant fear the Lord. But the creditor has come to take my two sons to be his slaves.

Elisha said to her, what shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you in the house? She said your handmaid has nothing in the house except a jar of oil. 2king 4:1-2

From the above text, the wife of the late prophet was in a critical situation. Her late husband, rather than leaving assets for her and her children, left a huge debt which became so difficult to repay to the extent that the creditor was going to take the two sons away as slaves in order to offset the huge debt. Her situation was a pathetic one. The situation obviously was a great embarrassment, especially to a family whose bread winner, during his life time, was known to be a righteous person who served the Lord with all his heart. One would wonder why a person that feared the Lord would die a debtor throwing his dependants into agonies of huge debt. Apparently the fault was not God’s; the man even though feared the Lord, he failed to see the opportunities around him and as a result of this he died a debtor.

 
Getting out of the debt was not the only issue of consideration for the widow; she also needed something to live on with her entire household. She therefore cried to Elisha in search of a solution. Her expectation probably was that Elisha would give her money enough to offset the debts. To her, that was the only way out and that was the reason she cried to Elisha for help. When she got to Elisha however, the response she got was not what she expected. Of course the Prophet (Elisha) did not have such money, even if he had it and help offset the debt, what would the woman and her children be living on? Rather Elisha asked her “what do you have in the house?” –Elisha referred the woman back to her own house. The Prophet seemed to be saying: ‘your miracle is in your house’, ‘your breakthrough is under your roof’, ‘you only need to see it’. 

Most times when we are faced with challenges of life or in dire need of help, there is this tendency of looking out and looking around for solution. But just the way Elisha asked the wife of the late son of the prophet, “what have you in the house?”, God seems to be telling us the solution is right with us. The woman hitherto had concluded that she had nothing but just a jar of oil. She must have concluded that the jar of oil was too little to make any difference in her situation, and that was the reason she was quick to say ‘I have nothing’.  But that is not the way God sees, the little in your hand, the little in your house, what you already have in your hands, is what the Almighty God will work through to deliver your much needed breakthrough. That is the way God works! 

Have you been looking around for help, going from people to people, and places to places? Have you concluded that you have nothing with which you can cope with life? God is saying to you today that there is still something you have in the house that you have not seen. You need to discover it so that the Lord can send his blessings as you explore the opportunities around. It does not matter how critical or how bad your situation is. There are still so many opportunities around you; you only need to see them, and your situation will never remain the same again!

There are no problems in life that do not have opportunities hidden inside of it. It takes a man who can see with the eyes of God to know that the solution you greatly desire from the LORD is already available even in the challenges you’re facing. I challenge you to stop looking abroad or to ungodly people for help, God is set to use that little in your hand to bring forth your breakthrough. You can start your own business with the little amount in your hand, and all that is important is God’s blessing upon it. Once the blessing of God is upon that little, it will grow to be great indeed. That’s how God works.

The reason so many of us have not left the same spot for many years is because we despise the little we already have. If you’re willing to start the journey with the little you have, and release it into God’s hand, breakthrough is bound to come for you. Remember, it was the same rod Moses had always had in his hands as a shepherd, that God used to work miracles in Egypt. It was the same hook that Peter had always had as a fisherman, that he used to catch the fish with deposits of money. God had already delivered into your hands, all that is required for your breakthrough and blessing. All you need is to discover it. Never ever give up, your breakthrough is already in your house, may the good Lord open your eyes to the opportunities around you. Your miracle is in your hands!
