Mark 10:6-7 NIV
But at the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

Through the seasons of life, this verse can sometimes grow weary in our hearts.   Life can bring some unexpected situations that cause us to feel increasingly separated from our spouses.

Why is it that hurts can grow from a molehill into a mountain when our feelings get crushed?  I think it can be the enemy wandering around looking for a marriage to devour.   Trying so desperately to separate what God has put together.  Our thoughts and feelings are so incredibly linked together.  It doesn't take much for a bitterness root to grow a shoot and cause chaos in our marriage.  One small thing can develop into a separation.   Just what the enemy wants!

God made our marriages so intricate that he made us one flesh.  That is why it hurts so much when things aren't going so well.  I think if we can get ahead of the game the enemy wants to play with our marriages, and try hard not let anything separate us; we will survive and empower our marriages to be all God intended them to be.   

Grow closer together, not farther apart.  When there is a dispute, be the first one to say, " I am sorry".  As you take your own thought life captive and realize what the enemy is doing, the faster and easier it is to rectify the issue and not allow that wedge to take up space.   Forgiveness is a direction from God. It says in his word (Ephesians 4:31-32 NIV) Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, fighting, and slander, along with every form of malice.  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each another, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Keep the intimacy alive in your marriage.  It was created and given to us by God.  A beautiful gift to share with each other.  A unique closeness that a husband and wife have the privilege to experience.  Keep the fire burning in your lives and appreciate the union God intended it to be.  Allow the spiritual fruit of your marriage to blossom.  May you be blessed for working at your marriage and perfecting your obedience in Him.
