God’s Representatives
Since the creation of the world and the creation of man, God has always had a person to represent Him in the Earth. What do we mean when we say God’s Representatives? In order to represent God the person has to do at least one of three things. They have be God’s means of light in a dark world, clearly sent by God to represent God, and they need to demonstrate God’s presence in the Earth. Adam was God’s first representative, he revealed God to humanity even after he sinned against God. It was Adam who taught his sons to bring an acceptable sacrifice to God. Able chose to bring the right sacrifice, Cain chose to bring a sacrifice unacceptable to God. Adam and Eve were the only people who knew God, Adam being the head of humanity represented God. Seth And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth:” For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.” Gen,4:25 Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve, he was a righteous man of God, His second representative in the earth. Enoch “ And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”.Gen.5:24 Enoch so pleased God that God would not allow him to die in a sinful world, God translated hip from earth to Paradise. Noah “ And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord”. Gen. 6:7,8 If is ever clear that one man represented God in a dark world, it is clearly seen in the life of Noah, he was like Adam, God chose Noah to replenish the earth in righteousness. Shem “And Noah said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And Noah said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant”. Gen.9:25,25 Shem is the righteous son of Noah, the first man to serve God after Noah and the great flood of the earth.
Job “And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” Job 1:8 Here God tells Satan that in all of the earth, there is none as righteous and upright as Job. Abraham “And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord”. Gen.18:16-19 When God is ready to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah He will confide with only Abraham, he alone is intimate with God. God tells Abraham; “Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing”. Gen 12:1,2 At this point in time, God is about to chose a Nation of people to represent Him in the earth. God chose the seeds of Abraham, the Nation of Israel to represent Him in the earth. Because all of humanity are children of Adam and Eve after their sin, all of humanity is prone to sin. The Nation Of Israel will fail to represent God properly, God will return to Individuals to represents Him, all from the seed of Abraham. Joseph “And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive”. Gen. 50:19,20 God chose Joseph to preserve the seed of Abraham and all of that part of the world from the great famine that came upon the world. Joseph suffered just like Jesus suffered on behalf of the wicked, he and Jesus being innocent. Moses “And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren”. Ex.2:11 “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season”; Heb.11:24,25 If Moses had chosen to remain in Egypt as Pharaoh’s son, he would have became Pharaoh, but he chose to serve God, giving up more materially that anyone in the bible. Next to Jesus Moses is the greatest man in the bible, he knew God face to face. Samuel “And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground”. 1Sam.3:19 God called Samuel as a young boy and remained with Samuel until his death, watching over his words, bringing them to pass. Elijah “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven”. 2Ki.2:11 Elijah represented God to the Israelites, proving that the God of Abraham was alive and well. God was so pleased with him that He took him out of the earth in a whirlwind.
Elisha “And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha”. 2 Ki.6:17 Like Elijah, Elisha represented God to Israel. Daniel “And he (the angel Gabriel) said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling”. Dan.10:11 The Archangel Gabriel tells Daniel that he is greatly loved by God. Daniel gave up his youth, the Babylonians castrated him preventing him from ever marrying or having children, yet Daniel was totally faithful to God. John the Baptist “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God”. John1:29:34 God had not spoken to Israel for 400 years, when He did speak, He spoke through John the Baptist, he is last Old Testament prophet and the first New Testament prophet all in one. God sent him to prepare Israel for their Messiah. Jesus “ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons”. Gal.4:4,5 At this time God sends His total representative. All the other representatives gave us just a glimpse of God, Jesus is the fullness of God in flesh. Jesus told Philip;” Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me”. Jhn.14:9-11. At this point God will now be represented by the Body of Christ, also called Christians, collectively called the Church. The main purpose of the Church is to make Jesus Christ visible in the earth, they represent Jesus, who represent God. The first representative of Jesus is Peter , who said;”Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call”. Acts 2:36-39 Two thousand years later, Peter is still speaking for the Church
. Paul , who said;”But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.” Gal. 1:15-17 Paul was called to represent Jesus in places that had no previous knowledge of the God of Abraham or Jesus. Called to shine light into dark places. Apostle John ;” The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw”. Rev. 1:1,2 John’s voice is the last voice in the bible. He is speaking to the Church, Israel, Unbelievers, and demonic angels. He represent Jesus in the earth. Because of the great population explosion of the twentieth century, we have so many men and women who has represented the Church, we cannot name them all, but we will recognize Smith Wigglesworth, D.L. Moody, C.H. Spurgeon, and Leonard Ravenhill. It has never been an easy task to represent God in a sinful world, especially when you were born a sinner as we all were. But through certain men we do know that it is possible. God was angry with the Nation of Israel and was about to judge them when the prophet Ezekiel attempted to intercede for the Nation when God said;” Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness”. Ezk.14:20 God list three men who had a chance of changing His mind. He called these three men Righteous. By God’s on words, these three men truly represented a Holy God in a sinful world. Amen.
