This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. Matthew 1:18-19 (NIV)
Joseph was distraught. The woman who was betrothed to him was going to have a baby that was not his. Yet, he did not wish to bring shame to her. This certainly says much about the type of man that was to be the earthly father of the Messiah.
Joseph planned to divorce Mary privately. There was one missing part to what had happened. How could Joseph have possibly known that this was the one time in creation that a woman was to bear a child through divine intervention? Who would have believed what Mary had told Joseph?
God had a way to remedy Joseph’s depression. God has an answer for all our trials. Just as God revealed His plan to Joseph, He reveals through the Holy Spirit to us who belong to Him, in Christ Jesus. What is impossible for man is not for God. Ours is not to determine the possibility or probability of an event’s occurrence. We are to have faith and believe. Then God can move mountains.
Believe in the creator of all. He has eternal plans for you!
