If honest with ourselves, we realize when something we do is wrong. We know we are sinning, that the action or attitude is against God’s will. But what about the things we leave undone?
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin (James 4:17 NKJV).”
We often consider the sins of omission as being less serious.
Yet, I know I should search my soul. What good am I leaving undone?
Do I love my neighbor as myself? Do I love my enemies? Am I faithfully carrying out the Great Commission? I fail miserably. To ‘know’ to do these things and not do them is sin.
“… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 NKJV).”
I confess my sins of omission. I serve a merciful God.
Will He say, ‘Well done?’
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord (Matthew 25:21 NKJV).”
