“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End.” Revelation 1:8
This was a description that the Lord gave to introduce Himself to Apostle John on the Island of Patmos where he was banished to suffer for the gospel of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
At least, Jesus knows who He is indeed!
He was there at the creation of Earth and Heaven. By Him all things were created. This translates that Jesus Christ was at the beginning of your existence and He will be there at the end of it. More than being there at the starting and end of your life, he is the Beginning and the End of it. If he sent you into the world, he alone can terminate it as at when due. No one can do this except He allows it.
Not only that He is the beginning of who you are, he is the End of all that you have and are? Your journey in life started with (and from) Him and you will end before His throne.
As the Alpha and omega, the beginning and the End, who is in-between the two? In your life, who is filling the gap between the beginning and the end? There cannot be a vacuum between the two. The space must be occupied. Who occupies that space in your life?
Note that as the Alpha, he is your Creator who has endowed you with all that you need to live your life faithfully for Him. Not only that, you will give account of your activities to Him as the Omega. By that time, he will reward you according to all your works. What will be your rewards depend on who walked with you in the space between being the Alpha and the omega in your life.
Let me point out here that there are two options before you. You either walk with the Creator or with the creature.
Do not forget that the Creator is the beginning and the end. You know your strength and weakness. He knows the way you ought to take in life. He is your Guide each minute of your life. He knows what He has endowed you with, he can guide you to employ and deploy the endowment to please Him only. If you choose to allow Him to fill the gap, at the end, you will be bountifully rewarded. The Lord, the Omega, will say to you,
“Well done, good and faithful servant, ...
Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:21, 23 NKJV
On the other hand, if you choose to fill the gap with the creature, that is the works of men’s hands” or any other creatures in heaven or on earth”.
The instruction of the Lord is straight forward and simple. It goes thus,
“You shall have no other gods
Before Me.” Exodus 20:3.NKJV.
What will be the portion of those who disobey this command? On earth and in heaven, they are losers. They will be unhappy.
The Psalmist of Israel has this to say about them,
“Their sorrows shall be multiplied
Who hasten after another god?” Psalm 16:4a. NKJV
The sad experience of a woman in Israel says it all. It absolutely confirms the words of Psalmist. In brief, the story is,
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,
And had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.” Mark 5:26 NKJV
Is this a sweet experience? No! It is accumulated sorrows!
The woman’s state became better when she replaced the physicians with Jesus Christ. She was totally healed.
With who have you replaced your Creator? You are courting sorrows! Therefore, amend your ways. There is no good substitute to Jesus Christ.
Therefore, fill in the gap with the only Person, who says,
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
First and the Last.” Revelation 1:11. NKJV.
Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
