Laughter is a Gift



Laughter is a gift given to everyone. It is pure, honest, and healing.
Like the breath of God upon our soul, it is a way to express the joy from within our heart.

The greatest laughter is from children. They give it so freely, and it takes so little to offer them pleasures.

Like the warmth of a mother’s hug, snuggling next to her for a “together” time, laughter is to be shared.
It is the breeze on a hot summer day.

Sometimes it starts at your toes and works its way all the way up, until you explode. Other times you may start with giggle and grow into a full blown he ha. However you laugh, the results are rejuvenate.

Many people, turn to a life of comedy from pain and tragedy. Learning to laugh rather than cry at life’s hardships.

It would be hard to completely leave out the kind of laughter that makes a mockery at others, but to misuse such a gift is the saddest of all. Causing pain only robs us of the release from our own pain that comes with pure laughter.

To continue to have the freedom that a child has, the pleasure that comes when you are truly able to laugh, is something we should all cherish.

Laugh when you watch your children living life.
Laugh when you remember your own youth.
Laugh when life gets too serious for you to cope, especially laugh at yourself.

If you are by nature a serious person, choose a best friend who can teach you to laugh.

This is my gift to you; Today when you are around friends, just start laughing and pointing at something, anything!
Before long another will ask, “What?” and start laughing, soon most people in the room will join in.
No one will know what they are laughing at, they are laughing because everyone else is laughing. It is contagious.

As our adult children come home to visit,we have shared one of those contagious times of laughter attacks. Perhaps, at a family dinner, or a Christmas gathering, it will be triggered by the smallest thing. Just when we are in tears and think we can’t breathe again, someone will say something like, “ look at mom, she can’t see when she laughs because her eye squint shut.”
Thus starting everyone all over again into the tummy holding, tear falling, silent spewing, laugh attack.
Then the next holiday or get-to-gather they always laugh, at the day they laughed together.
“Come laugh with us.” Laughter leaves some sweet memories.
Life is to short; not to share one of the greatest gifts that costs you nothing but gives you so much.
