A ‘betrayer’ or ‘A man OR a women according to His own heart’
God surely has pity on those who do not know Him (and He earnestly looks forward to their repentance and submission to the Word of God Which will reach them), however, for sure His anger vents out furiously for them, who having known the truth deliberately seek to drift away into the paths of wickedness.
“When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.””
John 13:21 NKJV
Amongst those whom Jesus had appointed as His disciples, was also Judas Iscariot, who later betrayed Jesus.
Being God, Jesus knew from the beginning that Judas was a betrayer, yet never did He love him less or did not care for him. In fact, Judas was trusted equally and thus was entrusted to take care of the money on behalf of all, yet he made the biggest blunder of his life and chose to betray the Lord.
As worthy citizens and God’s children, the Lord has entrusted us with blessed responsibilities through which we can glorify His holy name, yet do we care to be careful in our walk and talk? Do we assess our words and deeds?
David had this blessed habit of self-assessment...
Be careful to praise God with words and thoughts
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14 NKJV
Have a perfect heart
“I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.” Psalms 101:2-3 NKJV
The attitude of gratitude
“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:” Psalms 103:1-2 NKJV
David set these principles for himself so he may live worthy of his calling and be careful to praise the Lord God always. Thus, was he not rightly named as ‘A man according to God’s own heart’?
We too are His perfect creation, created in His image to bring glory to Him.
Let’s pray and endeavor that the Lord may not find in us a ‘betrayer’, rather ‘a man OR a women according to His own heart’.
God Bless,
Abraham
