I was listening to others talk today and I received another exhortation of how short life can be.
For the conversations were about a couple different people dying, their time trial now is ceased.

It is only a matter of time, and I know not how long it will be before my name is inserted in a similar conversation.
Too often we avoid this line of unpleasant meditation, seeing that many of us are prone to procrastination.

Fine houses, nice vehicles, immaculate properties which are certainly a blessing from God will be of no value to us then.
The only thing that will matter in that moment of time is whether or not you have been truly born again.

Another thing I notice in this is how quickly you will be removed, or erased from other people’s minds.
We will only possess a short span, a very short season of grieving before we are swept away by the high tide of time.

I’m confident that the hour glass of my life has less sand in the top of it, than the portion at the bottom that has already passed.
We’re not allowed to turn the hour glass back over. Once a grain of life has fallen, it is gone forever and it falls way too fast.

We must heed the time, and embrace every day, every moment to build and nurture the relationships the Lord has given to us.
And guard them like we would a safe full of gold coins, being a good steward of what God has put in my trust.

We need help so we can learn to think more often, and nourish the things in our life that the Lord places a higher value on.
Many regrets will be our portion one day if we don’t take opportunity now, for we do know that one day we must go home?

The older I get, I know a lot of people that have used up their time and it is a constant reminder as I ponder memories of them.
Unfortunately not all these memories are pleasant ones, I must remember my life is an open epistle known, and read of men.

My own everyday life is writing the sermon for my funeral, and will tell the story much better than even my own preacher can.
Our nature wants to cover up death, and make it acceptable and pleasing, even pretty in the sight of our fellow man.

Regardless of what is said about me the people that attend will know in their hearts if those things mentioned are true, or lies.
And so will I, as I join that cloud of witnesses and watch my own funeral with some of God’s other witnesses in the sky.
