Today I was going through Acts 3:1-8.The man in this passage was born lame. He was accustomed to the habit of being taken to the beautiful gate every day to beg for alms. I feel like that’s how most of my life has been and am sure several people can relate.
You are so used to living a certain life that when an opportunity comes that can change it, you don’t recognize it.This lame man was so used to begging that when Peter and John came his way, he only expected them to give him a few coins and be on their way. He didn’t think of asking for anything else but a few pieces of silver or gold.
Many are the times that we are so used to being in a certain position in life. We are so caught up in remaining there that we don’t realize that it’s time to stand and walk away. When this man was able to walk again, he didn’t think about borrowing anymore. He stood up, entered into the temple walking and leaping and praising God. There is always a freedom that comes with leaving the old habit and being new in spirit and even in our actions.
Remember, God is a God of much more. Like the lame man, don’t just ask for a little silver and gold. Ask Him for a miracle that will ensure you can walk and work for the silver and gold. He owns it all, and He provides according to His riches in glory. Leave your comfort zone, approach his throne boldly, ask and you shall receive in abundance.
Amen.
