I want to share with you a story about this Rock, it followed me through life wherever I went.
I regret not knowing earlier in my life, from where this Rock was sent.

In the most vile of my days, this Rock was ever near, and could have changed my life at an early age.
Yet I resisted the tender mercy of this Rock, ever seeking more sinful pleasures of which I could engage.

Just another night in sin, when my car was swept downstream, it was late, my arm was broke, I reached out for a tree.
There this Rock was with me, I had noticed it oft times before, but why would this Rock give strength to hold on, to me?

The only way possible that makes any sense was that Rock helped me, even sending deliverance to me that night.
He impressed some older lady a mile down the road to call, not even realizing there was a person in such a plight.

There were many other times, with no regard to this Rock that I found myself in a dire need.
This Rock was ever trailing me, I never considered that one day for his mercy I would thankfully plead.

When my path was, and is rough and steep, and I find myself like a helpless lamb separated from the flock.
I could catch a glimpse, as through a lattice, that there was ever with me this Rock.

This is no ordinary Rock, this Rock is something very special, it is magnificent, it is most grand.
It has always followed close behind me, no matter if through Rivers, over rocks, or through sand.

I had learned something about this Rock as a young child, but for the Rock’s presence I had no desire.
For all of my life was spent following another master, but the Rock one day exposed him as a liar.

There were others along my way, that tried to convince me to follow the Rock, but the way seemed too narrow and strait.
My way, I thought held many enjoyments, and for this world’s engagements I must not be late.

I stayed on this way for many years, with this Rock ever following me while on this broad, destructive path.
Then one night, made willing by this Rock, it rolled over my binding chain, and told me to flee the oncoming wrath.

The only reason I could have ever hearkened to this Rock, was he made me willing in the day of his power.
From that day forward, the Rock now leads me, and cleanses me daily like a fresh, spring shower.

I have found now, that no matter how rough my way gets, the Rock will never lead me wrong.
He’s written about in the pages of God’s Holy Word, and He is the substance of many uplifting songs.

It is declared that the world could not contain the books, if written of all his wonderful deeds.
For our God did highly exalt this Rock, and this Rock is Christ, and he is all any man will ever need.

In retrospect, I can see that this Rock was always very near me, even though my heart was such an ungodly place.
The wasted years I spent hiding my face from him, but he repays me with the most Amazing Grace.
