Far, Far Away

A daydream can be such a perfect place;

a place where there is no sickness, death, nor disgrace.

A place where angels fly, demons die, and babies have no need to cry.

You can make a daydream real, or take it for a thrill.

You can daydream about money, riches and fame,

but in real life, there are times when these bring you shame.

In a daydream, you can dream of a perfect world,

one without heartache, sorrow or turmoil.

A daydream can be a fleeting glimpse,

or it can go for hours and become intense.

In a daydream, you can be whoever you want,

even a big old flaunt.

In my daydream, I am the king,

and in my kingdom, I have a queen.

My queen is so beautiful, always adorned with jewels;

her hair always fixed right;

There is no room for misplaced spools.

My queen’s dress is always as white as snow,

it makes her face shine with a radiant glow.

In my kingdom, I am rich with fame,

the people love me because I bring them no shame.

In my kingdom, everybody is legit,

I always give them a place to sit.

Sometimes I sit from daylight until dark,

daydreaming of my queen, and our strolls in the park.

In my daydream, there are no laws,

everybody is good, giving me no cause.

This gives our children the freedom to play,

day in and day out, with no reason to be afraid.

How about you? Are you safe in your daydream?

When you daydream, do you daydream of how life was, is, or how it can be?

When you daydream, do you daydream of being a football star,

or do you dance with a star?

In your daydream, are you a president,

or does that make you hesitant?

When you daydream, do you dream of a bright blue sky,

where everything seems to be a pie in the sky?

Do you dream of nothing but hope,

where everything is within your very scope?

In your daydream, is everybody alive and well,

so that your children can sit at the feet of granddads,

who have stories to tell?

In your daydreamed house,

do you ever find a big fat mouse?

A daydream is what you make it,

even if you have to fake it.

In my current daydream, I don’t fake it,

because I sign a book deal, and make it.

I go on to write many more poems,

finding other words or phrases to coin.

In my current daydream, I can write at the drop of a hat,

even though right now, I’m not at all like that.

Right now, this article seems silly to me,

but it’s all I could think of, if you know what I mean.

In the end, this article is perfect to me;

but then again, it’s all in my daydreams.
