Receive Him and be blessed

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:10-13 NKJV

God has suffered rejections from men from the beginning. Rejected by the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden when His command was disobeyed, and until now where many profess either to deny His existence or to continue in sin despite the knowledge of the consequences.

John clearly mentions how when Jesus came to His people (Israelites), to His own, His own people rejected Him. Going back to history, for His relationship with Abraham, the Lord was very pleased with  Abraham (also known as ‘The friend of God’) and Abraham was faithful to the Lord. The blessedness continued to the very next and the next (Issac and Jacob) generations, however as the generations progressed the faithfulness towards the Lord God declined as the devil was succeeding in alienating man from God. The gap widened so much that ignorance of God later turned to rejection and thus when He came to His own, He was not received. Had the trend been the other way round, and if men would have rejected the allurements of Satan and his sins and continued in their faithfulness towards God, the world would have been a much better place to live and we would have been much better people.

Yet all is not lost, for there is a group or category of people who go against the trend of time and honor God. They are the ones who receive Him and have been given the honor of being called ‘children of God’. Such people are born again, not in the physical process, but in the spiritual. The devil might have deceived them earlier, yet later they decided to return to their God.

What do we choose to do today? Reject God and sink with the world’s ideologies or receive God to be honored and blessed?

There is true peace and solace only in God. Let’s receive Him into our lives and be blessed forever.
