Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
We all come into this world one way, and how we leave is another. In the reasoning of mankind, death is an awful thing and much worse is being poor. The comforting Spirit of the LORD continues to bless those who are near to Him. I want to talk about Lazarus and Job. Two different persons but yet they both had one GOD.
The story of Lazarus starts with him begging outside the rich man's home. So this would mean he was down and out of options. He desired to be rich, but his desires were not met in the world but will be later met by the One who showed true compassion on the condition of this world.
The story of Lazarus starts with him begging outside the rich man's home. So this would mean he was down and out of options. He desired to be rich, but his desires were not met in the world but will be later met by the One who showed true compassion on the condition of this world.
The rich man had friends of this world, prestige and all the awards given in this world's basic comforts. His compassion for his own ancestor was not as enduring as the LORD would have us to be. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In this we have two issues which is death by faith and death received from the flesh. You see the ultimate judgement of Adam and Eve relieved in the rich man who did not care to listen, and the death of a poor man who had nothing to gain except a placement with the LORD.
So as we go on with this story, we begin to see how the compassion of Christ Jesus is for those who undergo serious conditions of life and because they had faith will be awarded according to His mercy and grace. "and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side." So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Now that the tables are turned, the rich man becomes the beggar for those he left behind and the beggar becomes the rich man. "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.' 'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.' "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'" Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.
We have so many things of this world that seem great and people gravitate to them like flies. Nobody wants to be poor, but the type of poor is not about what you accumulate in things, but what you accumulate in faith. Holy One Blessed are you who gathers us according to your faith in the words our Father in heaven sent to us. Thank you for your mercy and your name that is magnified in the hearts of your people great and less in this world. You are a GOD of provision and for those who love you, we will praise you even in the days which we see not, but are coming. Amen.
Now for JOB which was a servant of the LORD and true to his love for Him. JOB was a rich man, had children and also a wife. So it come when the LORD called a meeting with the angels who
had positions in this world for them to give an account of things. Satan came into the meeting with some of the angels,(Satan is a spirit or angel) it happened this way: In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East. His sons used to hold feasts in their homes on their birthdays, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it."
Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.""Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face." The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger." Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Now in one day, everything was taken from Job, but the LORD spared his life. Nine months came to him with many storms, and his suppose friends, well they continued to say to him, you have done this too yourself and that's what happens to you when you speak of the LORD. I love this word among other words of the prophets, but this one stands out is this: So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
Now as we already know: The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. As we should be encourage from the provisions that the LORD provides through faith in him. As He said: "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters--yes, even their own life--such a person cannot be my disciple.
And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won't you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, 'This person began to build and wasn't able to finish.' "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won't he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
As many would say, that wealth is bad, and go on a binge about why should they give up their lives for anyone, but when you truly look at the LORD, He is the King of kings, LORD of lords, and GOD of gods. Everything belongs to Him and He being all things, yet He humbled Himself for the world, taking on every situation of life and died in order for this world to not perish but have life. As Paul/Saul was Pharisee and a part of the ruling class, he took part in a life changing event. The very man that came to Paul/Saul spoke this before the LORD: In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, "Ananias!" "Yes, Lord," he answered.
The Lord told him, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight." "Lord," Ananias answered, "I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name." But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles(Goyim) and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."
The zeal of His people consumes us, and His favor last forever. Blessed are you who are poor, because in that condition, you will be able to Glorify the LORD in your heart, mind and soul. Blessed are you who are rich, and is still able to Praise the Name of the LORD continually. There is no difference in Christ Jesus, because He is the most wealthiest King of all the kings, His authority supplies life to the heavens and earth. What can you really give Him who has everything, but what He gives you is from His heart of compassion. Amen
