Christians, How Informed Are You On Social Issues?

I recently attended a rally in my own State of Washington, U.S.A., led by Franklin Graham, son of the Rev.Billy Graham. This was a stop on his Decision America Tour, being held in every state capitol in 2016. Over 6,000 people gathered in front of the capitol building in Olympia, WA, to join hands and pray for our government leaders. Graham also gave a gospel presentation and people opened their hearts to God's Holy Spirit. He encouraged Christians to get out and vote, and get involved in bringing positive change, including running for office.

     The event was a peaceful show of solidarity among Christians standing for biblical truth and traditional values, as well as taking a stand against the moral and spiritual decay we see in America. If Franklin Graham has not yet come to your state capitol check the itinerary by googling, "Decision America Tour." Plan to attend if at all possible. Charter buses. You won't want to miss this opportunity to make your voice heard. 

     There are two types of people, the informed and the uninformed. Christians must be aware and informed about what is going on in today's culture. We must be aware of opportunities to identify with the organizations and events that speak out for Christian concerns and to help get America back on track morally and spiritually. It would apear that many Christians either do not know what is really happening or are in denial about the criitical issues that face this nation and religious freedom. After all, we are supposed to be a Christians nation, right? If a survey was taken in our church congregations about awareness and knowledge of current events that affect Christians, how many people would pass? I believe that it has become a norm for churches to stay in their own little world and not associate nor converse with those of different views and lifestyles. We should be engaging them in an effort to not only understand them, but more importantly, see the truth of the gospel message of hope, peace, and eternal life. Jesus continually interacted with people of all types.  

     Here are 9 areas which need to be addressed by Christians. If they are not, Christians could be silenced. How much do you know about these, or are you even aware of some of them?  For some of these I will provide recent headlines so you can see to what extent they are infecting the culture of America. 

     1. The LGBT agenda and same-sex marriage. A lady that went to the Franklin Graham rally did not even know what the gay flag looked like.

     2. Abortion.  

     3. Religious persecution and hatred of Christians in America.

     4. The occult and satanism.  They have had public satanic gatherings in Los Angeles and Michigan.

     7. Attack on Christian schools and institutions.

     8. The compromise of so-called Christian denominations by being politically correct, giving in to the LGBT agenda, and forsaking literal biblical interpretation.

     9. Sharia Law. Islamics are trying at every opportunity to institute this. 

     These headlines are only a small snapshot of a much larger picture all across America. Are things worse than you thought? If they are, then get, and stay,  informed. We all know that the major media does not tell us about lots of things, so you must do the following if you want to keep up to speed on what is really going on.

     1. Listen to, and read, independent news sources that tell us things the major media doesn't.

     2. Listen to television programs that focus on current and prophectic events, like for example, The Hal Lindsey Report.

     3. Subscribe to emails and newsletters from Christian organizations and ministries. 

     4. Read books by the experts dealing with political, economic, and religious issues. 

     5. Read the Bible, and especially be alert to what current events are lining up with biblical prophecy. 

     6. Google, "News for Christians," and click on the page that says "headlines."

     7. Attend public meetings and speak up.
