How excited I am to share this with you, and it is a thrilling and a joyous expectancy as time gets closer to the second coming of our Lord Jesus. Just as He promised, Jesus will come back again. He will come as a King and ruler of the entire universe. His majesty, splendor, magnificent and glory incomparable! This is what we as believers have been waiting for long. Yeah, the King is coming and the time is now to get ready.
I wonder how many of us are waiting anxiously for the return of our Lord. When He comes, will He get you off guard?
In Matthew 24:30 the Bible says, And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
That long awaited time would come. Jesus will come and gather all the people from the four corners of the world. We all would see Him. Oh my goodness, it is something we have never seen but been expecting it. We will behold our King. His reward in His hand, shall He grant unto all that believed in Him. GET READY, JESUS IS COMING!
Just saying those words thrills my heart. Get ready, Jesus the Messiah is coming soon! Doesn't that make your heart beat faster? I am sure it does. But now, the big question is, “Are you ready? Are you prepared for His return?” But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. I remember those days back then when mom would go to the market. My brother and I all left alone at home, would then go out and play. We would do the things mum prohibited us not to do knowing that she will only come later in the evening after we are done.
While we played throwing mud at each other, we would get dirty and then run back to the house with all the mud. We would then throw things around the house making it look like a playing ground. This continues for a while. Everything seems and looks normal as we happily continue playing. It never strikes in our minds that any time soon mum would be home.
Then, to our shock, mum comes back home, a time we didn’t expect! You may guess what happened after disobeying her orders...
The story above reminds us of Noe’s days. People lived in ignorance. They never knew that the flood would come, just as we didn’t expect our mom to come back home so soon. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, this they didn’t know until the flood came, and took them all away and so shall the coming of our Lord be. Matthew 24: 44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
Brethren, we are living in the end times. Look around you and see what is happening.
God loves us so much. He doesn’t want to come and find us unprepared. That is why He tells us in His word to watch out and be ready. Any time now our Master will come back. Will He find us in place, ready waiting for Him? Or will He find us in our own luxury, our cloth dirty and unfit to put on?
Let’s look into the parable of the ten virgins. Matthew 25:1- 13 “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
It is important to notice something here, that while all the ten virgins waited for thebridegroom, they both had two things in common: They both had lamps, second, they all slumbered and slept.
Now the very last verse above says, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." Brethren, the scripture is plain. It doesn’t need any interpretation. Though it appears that all is well with our lamps; knowing that the King is coming, are we wise enough to fill our lamps with oil which can last us until the bridegroom comes? We may have the lamps thinking that all is well only to miss out the important thing, the oil.
We all must be ready for the King’s return. He doesn’t come in surprise. He first tellsus beforehand, that He is coming and we need to watch. Though we don’t know the hour, His instructions are clear, to watch. Even when we are slumbering and asleep, our conscious should be alive, ready and watching. Just as a thief comes to our homes, so shall the return of our Lord be. We don’t know the hour, but He is coming. We don’t know the day, but surely He will come. We cannot live in ignorance and assume that all is well. We must ensure that we have enough oil in our lamps to carry us through till He comes.
In our Christian walk with the Lord, there is need for preparation. Every one of us am sure has had visitors in their homes. In the past, probably guests never made calls or appointments that they would come and visit you. You will be at home only to hear a knock at the door and upon opening it you find it is a family member or a friend who had traveled many miles to just come and visit you. But nowadays, some have to call to alert you that they will be coming on a certain day. And so is our God. God never does anything without letting us know in His Word. Jesus told us that He would come back. John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. The point is, God never tries to fool us and He never desires to surprise us. He tells us beforehand all those things He will do. In John 16:8 the Bible says “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:” Yes, our Lord Jesus will judge those who never believed in Him. But to those who have already believed in Him they will not be judged. How important it is for us to know our Lord, to invite Him into our hearts and allow Him to be Lord and savior of our hearts! In so doing we will be ready, that when He comes back we will be amongst the righteous of God to meet Him in the air.
Finally my friend, I have got a few questions for you to ponder upon. Have you given your life to the Lord? If Jesus came today, where will you be? Will He find you in the right place? If today was your last day on earth, where would you spend your eternity? Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Therefore, today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart my friend. Let Him come into your heart and I guarantee you that when our Lord Jesus comes back to take us home, our joy will be full. Get ready for the King of kings is coming back!
