“Momma, I want to be just like you when I grow up,” my 8-year-old daughter revealed to me today. I veiled my horror with an appreciative smile. Then it deeply pondered on my heart. For you see, she’s my “much…”
“For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required;” Luke 12:48 NKJV
I believe God spoke to me through her, reminding me how He has given me much, and what I am to do.
Because she is a gift from God to me, He requires MUCH of me from this gift. She’s my “much.” It is not as if I feel obligated, because God “says so.” I’m crazy about her. I’m compelled, through the love God basks over me, to do much for this blue-eyed, freckled face redhead (yes, she’s a cutie!). Therefore, I give and surrender my all to Jesus to guide me through the Bible how to teach her diligently toward His love. It’s not easy. I’m all flesh -- I want things my way. It’s one of the many reasons why I need a Savior. I want the best for my “much.”
I have many other “much-es.” My husband, my other two children, my church, my health, our money, a forever and ever relationship with God through Jesus Christ. How can I handle this MUCH without the guidance of Jesus?
