A Morning Prayer

Dear Lord God,
Help me today do,
Help me succeed at the work I’m called to
Put my hand to the plow, and my foot to the path
Cause me to obey, all that you ask

May the fruit of my labors abound and increase
And the past I can’t change, forgiven and released
Give me beauty for ashes and a garland of praise
May words that I speak, be seasoned with grace

Encourage my heart like David’s to fight,
Enemies that plot destruction and plight
Build my house, and my strength, and my faith
Lift up my countenance to gaze on your face,

Bless me and keep me, so I may prevail
At spreading your word, through deep sea and gale,
I’m broken and bruised, barren and dry,
Without what I need, to live and arise

But if you open my heart and plant a good seed,
Water me, love me, remove anger and greed,
Pursue me, have patience, keep me close
Fill me with the Holy Ghost,

Then I might succeed, I might just do
What you have planned and called me to. Amen

Psalm 5:3
In the Morning, O Lord,
Thou will hear my voice;
In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch.

We each awake to different realities. Some to quiet blissful days, others to crying children, and stress and looming work. Some to wealth others to poverty, some to sun others to a hurricane. So there is no one size fits all for how we tackle the hours which await for us. But one thing that applies to every man; which effects our days, weeks, years and our whole life. The bible says, the Lord’s mercies are new every morning. Each day can be a fresh opportunity for a new life. Don’t let yesterday’s failures and sins taint and determine today’s outlook or tomorrows hope. And don’t let yesterday’s successes keep you from embracing opportunities of growth through struggle. Each morning is new and full of potential, a chance for joy and purpose.
Why not take 5 minutes this morning to acknowledge God’s sovereignty and mercy. Ask for his leadership, grace and strength to carry you, encounter you, and encourage you through every moment, every situation every thought and feeling and engagement that you cross. Let him guide you into the best he has for you THIS DAY.
