Be Another Noah In A Time Of Impending Judgment

All Christians are familiar with the story of Noah and the ark. Sometimes, however, important insights are overlooked. Here we have the man, Noah, who was obedient out of faith in building a large boat for a long span of his life. In the end he spared his family from God's judgment, but it went beyond that. In the long run Noah's faith backed up by his actions resulted in the repopulation of the entire planet. Think of it! One act of faith saved an entire generation from extinction. We are all descendents of Adam and Eve, but if it were not for Noah, I would not be here writing this.

     None of us are Noah in a physical sense, but every generation has individuals that God uses in mighty ways. We are not going to keep the earth's population from dying out, but there are those who are faithfully preaching the gospel, thereby sparing people from eternal spiritual judgment. There is coming a time of "...great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall. And unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been spared..."(Matthew 24:21-22).

     We have individuals today who are calling people to repentence and warning of impending judgment. I think of Franklin Graham, Hal Lindsey, John Hagee, Jack VanImpe, and I am sure there are many others. Our world culture is as it was in the days before the flood, with violence continually. Just like in those days people are going to enter a time of judgment without knowing what is going to happen unless they repent. It won't be by water this time. The promise not to destroy the earth again this way is witnessed every time you see a rainbow in the sky (Genesis 9:13-15). Just like God used something to destroy the earth that people had never seen before, because it had never rained up until that time, so he will judge the earth in unimaginable ways.

     The world right now needs more "Noahs." It needs millions of Christians who will be faithful and obedient to God, take steps of faith, and teach the word of God without compromise. It may involve being laughed at and mocked as Noah was. But when the rain started to fall, people probably were banging on the door of the ark to be let in. It was too late.

     The ark is an Old Testament picture of Jesus Christ. Today he is the "ark of salvation" for everyone who puts their faith and trust in him. May we as Christians share the message of salvation that people may come to know him. Let's not leave it to Franklin Graham and the others I mentioned earlier. We can all be "little Noahs." Stand tall in obedience and faith. Don't back down. Let's "lock arms" spiritually speaking all over the world, before it's too late, to share God's love, forgiveness, and redemption. There is no better time to minister to an entire generation. Will you be like Noah? You will never know how many people may board the "ark of Jesus Christ" because of your faithfulness.
