Encouragement
Think back over the tumultuous times you've had, the hardest trials and woes, even the strangest and most confusing time... then, imagine how very cool (and helpful) it would have been if Jesus would have just 'shown up' there beside you! Poof!
Me? I've had many times in my life when His visible presence would have made such a difference. Not because I was doubting... not at all... but because of the comfort and assurance it would have bestowed. This happened to the disciples after Jesus had been crucified. Luke 24:36 tells us; "And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.", and as I shared earlier, that must have been quite comforting for them. He even assured them and told them 'peace be with you'... THAT's exactly what I need, from time-to-time.
Again, it would be nice to actually 'see' Him, but since His ascension, we must trust Him in spirit and have faith He is there by our side. Matthew 28:20 even states; "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.", which is definite assurance of His presence in our lives. Sure, too often it may not feel like it, but that is where your faith and patience will bolster your trust.
One of the key ways to keep His presence fresh in your life is to speak to Him often... to acknowledge Him in all the moments through your day... to thank Him for His promise. Hebrews 13:15 reminds us; "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.", so He really can be right there present with you. Just give Him your heart, your thoughts, your stubbornness, and especially your praise and thanksgiving... and then there's Jesus, front and center in your spirit!
