When I get my hair cut, I feel better. When I eat something delectable, I have a satisfied feeling of nourishment. When I get a good night's sleep, I feel rejuvenated. There are many, many other signs of life, indicators that I am alive, alert, and connected with my senses. These are all separate components of my life, yet impacting me in their own way... and me, differently than you.
Then, I consider how the Lord has impacted my life, and could impact your life. His one presence, His one being, His one spirit covers so many facets of my life; the inside, the outside, right there beside, He does abide right here with me, but I once grappled with the concept, the process, or even just the practicality.
Inside
Over in Colossians 1:27 we are reminded; "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory", which is His part inside our lives, inside our hearts, minds, and souls.
Outside
He also protects our coming and our going; He guides us on our path. Nehemiah 8:10 states; "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength." His blessing unto you will spill over to those around you. His abundance to you, is provision for those around you.
Beside
Regardless of how strong or safe you feel in the Lord, there 'are' those times when your faith, your patience, your spiritual stamina just falls apart... and He is there beside you.
Isaiah 42:6 points out; "I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles", which is very comforting, assuring, and certainly calming.
How?
He can do all these at once because He abides IN you, through the Holy Spirit.Romans 15:13 clarifies it with; "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost", which is His promise to keep us until He returns. He is the Lord God Almighty, and you can boldly claim He is Inside, Outside, Beside... and does Abide!
