No, Oprah, there are not "many paths to what you call God." Jesus Christ said Himself that He is "the way, the truth, and the life", and that no person "can come to the Father except through" Him. This is recorded in John 14:6. Jesus also claimed that he had the power to forgive sins, that he is the bread of life, the resurrection and the life, among other things. 

     The great philosopher, C.S. Lewis, responded to the claims of Jesus with the followng: "He would either be a lunatic-on the level of a man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse." Even though some have been crritical of this statement because it "assumes what is regularly denied, namely, that the Gospels give entirely accurate accounts of the actions and claims of Jesus," as argued by the New Testament scholar, Craig Blomberg, Jesus proved his claims by his actions. 

     Jesus rose from the dead. That is one of the most well documented events in all of human history. No other religious leader has ever done that. Many people have offered "explanations" for the tomb being empty, but no one has ever come forward with facts to prove their explanation-except Jesus. 

     It is recorded by more than one of the Gospel writers that Jesus walked upon the earth in physical form for 40 days after his resurrection. He was reportedly seen by many people, and in one case, by more than 500 at one time. Then it is stated in the Book of Acts that he physically ascended to the Father in the presence of his disciples. 

     Is the Bible true in its accounts, and is Jesus really the divine God in human flesh? He fulfilled over 300 prophecies by Himself, Oprah! A college professor said that the odds of that happening would be comparable to having silver dollars covering the State of Texas with one having a special marking on it, then having a blindfolded person go out and pick up that one specially marked coin the first time. 

     If the Gospel accounts were not true the people living at that time would have contested them. It would be like someone appearing on your show, Oprah, and making a certain statement. Then you denied that your guest said it. All of the people in your audience, however, heard it and would most likely say, "No, Oprah, that is what he said."

     Jesus made claims about Himself. The Gospel writers recorded them. They are backed up by his resurrection. People of his day did not contest what was written. The Gospels were considered to be authoritative by the religious community of that day. They, therefore, were included in what is known as the "canon of scripture," a word coming from the Greek, meaning "rule" or "measuring stick."

     So, you see, Oprah, "there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved"(Acts 4:12). "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name"(John 1:12).

     Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior today, Oprah. He died for you and rose from the dead for your eternal salvation. It says in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, that no one should boast."
