Healthy Living
Here are some simple tips for lowering your blood sugar levels to more acceptable levels. You might already be on a diet from your doctor's orders or you might be trying to get a flatter stomach. In any case cutting back on sugar is one of the fastest and easiest ways to achieve your goal.
Most of us eat too much sugar. The food companies are putting sugar in just about everything these days including peanut butter and catsup so keep this in mind when shopping. Read the food labels and check the ingredients. The number one ingredient is normally listed first. If sugar or high fructose corn syrup is listed first then avoid it and you should probably avoid it if it is listed at all.
1. Tip One- Immediate benefit
Cut back on Carbohydrates because carbs are sugar.
Most people only need about 120 carbs per day but your needs will vary depending on your need for energy. An athlete will obviously require more energy and thus more carbs than a secretary who works in the office. If you wish to see some real weight loss benefits then you might want to restrict carb intake to about 30-50 per day. Other factors include whether you are in a pre-diabetic or diabetic condition or if you are suffering from illnesses such as heart disease or cancer. It is common knowledge among scientiests and health experts that sugar weakens the immune system and it takes a strong immune system to help prevent cancer. If you wish to avoid cancer then it would seem to make sense to cut down on sugar and carbs.
Avoid or cut back on the list of foods below because they are high in carbohydrates. These foods or snacks are usually loaded with carbs/sugar and can actually be deadly in the long run because these substances are high in the wrong kind of carbs, namely, simple carbs which spike the blood sugar to high levels. High carbs or sugar can lead to inflammation and iflammation is a leading cause of disease.

2. Cakes,
3. Candies
4. Cereal
5. Crackers bread
6. French fries
7. Soft drinks
8. Pizza
9. Sushi
10 Flour products
11.Ice cream
Most people love the list above but if you want to really lower your blood sugar you must be disciplined. Use moderation as the apostle Paul exhorted us. "Let your moderation be known unto all men..." I violated this rule today by eating too many chocolate chip cookies. I'm already feeling a bit bloated in my stomach as a result.

Tip Two
Supplement Your Diet With Cinnamon-
Did you know that cinnamon helps regulate your blood sugar levels? One of the easiest ways
to get cinnamon into your diet is to simply sprinkle some from a container into a teaspoon and eat it right off the spoon or you can take cinnamon pills up to 3,000 mg at each meal. NOTE: Menopausal women will need more cinnamon for effectively lowering their blood sugar than non-menopausal women.
You can buy cinnamon sticks and put them in water and drink it or if you drink tea you can put a dash of cinnamon into a spoon and stir it into your tea. Also if you like oatmeal for you can sprinkle some cinnamon on your oatmeal for breakfast.
NOTE: I eat my oatmeal using only the water it is boiled in. I use to add milk but no more. I add about a teaspoon of butter and organic honey for flavor. You can substitute for the honey a tablespoon of blueberries or strawberries for extra vitamins and minerals. Now I know what you are probably thinking. Doesn't fruit contain carbs? Yes, it does but there are two kinds of carbs.
There are simple and complex carbs. Fruit is a complex carb which breaks down more slowly so your body can metabolize it over time without increasing insulin levels. Fruit also contains fiber, vitamins and minerals unlike simple table sugar or corn syrup. Simple sugars which are found in cookies, candies and cokes increase the insulin and thus increase the appetite which could lead to weight gain and fat accumation. I imagine you probably would like to lose weight About 60% of Americans are overweight and one-third are obese according to the World Health Organization.
If you add fruit to your oatmeal you might want to skip the honey and if you skip the fruit you can use honey instead of table sugar. Raw honey has enzymes and some minerals but processed sugar doesn't.

Tip Three
Exercise lightly
When it comes to exercise you don't have to do anything you don't like. Find some activity or sport you enjoy like tennis or hiking and just incorporate it into your daily schedule.
Here's a suggestion.
Take a walk for a mile or two around the neighborhood. Some people work in offices where they sit all day or walk minimally back and forth running errands. This doesn't count as excercise. You must get your heart to beat at a sustained level for at least 20 to 30 minutes to really burn some carbs and lower your blood sugar.
Jogging is good if you are young. Older people should probably take a vigourous walk or use a tread mill if you use a gymn.
If you like to swim then go swimming or ride a bike. The important thing is to work your heart for at least 20-30 minutes each day by exercise or vigorous activity because not only will you burn off carbs/sugar but you'll increase your metabolism which makes burning calories easier.
Sedentary people have a tendency to gain weight and/or have sluggish circulatory systems requiring lymphatic massage therapy and this can be expensive. So just exercise. It's fun and it is free or next to free.
