"How Far Would You Travel?

"The Book of Heaven" is what they sought.
4 Indian Chiefs traveled 3,000 miles, a lot,
From Oregon Territory to St. Louis, Missouri.
I was moved to write this, their poem story.

They came hoping to see their 'Great Father',
General William Clark, whom they honored.
They heard that people toward the rising sun
Worshiped The Great Spirit perfectly done.

They sought the book for direction and favor.
To reside forever with Him they'd endeavor.
General Clark Informed them of the Saviour;
How He'd saved man for his sinful behavior.

My dear friends, How far would you travel
For a book to make life's mysteries unravel?
These Indians had a sincere desire to know.
They wanted The Great Spirit's Love to grow.

Love makes one do; here is another instance.
Jesus traveled from Heaven a great distance.
He gave The Book of Life its true meaning.
Life's travelers can all seek His Redeeming.
