This poem is written on an inspired hunch
God must have liked Annie Oakley a bunch.
She was America's first female superstar
Shooting playing cards edge-on from afar.

The star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show,
Her fame even in Europe did rapidly grow
Hitting a hundred clay targets all in a row.
Oh, 5 ft. heroine wonder, we love you so!

Come on now. Admit that it excites you too.
She was a peerless woman who could woo.
If you were living then, you would go to see
This God-gifted sharpshooter fire amazingly.

The fame of Annie is a tall-tale type of truth.
The legenary feats remarkably were sooth.
All of us sort of wish that we had her talent,
A uniqueness with which God was content.
