Marriage
I began to wonder this week, why it is that so many of the images I have in my mind when I think of our love are from my childhood, or about being child-like.
As a child, you have the ability to trust completely and wholeheartedly - there is no hesitation, no reservations, it just IS.
In our love we have that kind of child-like trust - it is complete, with no worries that it is misplaced or will be misused. Love wipes away the doubts, eases the fears, and creates a climate where we are so willing to put our hearts into one another's hands...
As a child, you have complete faith - there is just no doubt in your mind that things are as you see, and what will come will be even more wonderful.
In our love, we have that kind of faith, that wholehearted knowledge that we are without masks to one another, knowing that the acceptance is already there, knowing with certainty, that wherever we are going, it will be more wonderful than where we are today.
As a child, you love completely, without pretense, without any reservations, you give of yourself totally, and don't hesitate to show that love with exuberance, joy, and genuine happiness.
In our love, we give to each other completely, we hold the other up, think of each other first, take such joy in doing and giving to one another - there is no thought of getting back.... there is just so much we want to give!
As a child, you still have the ability to wonder.... to discover small things can bring great joy...to approach the throne of God because we know we've been invited to.... to talk to God because we know His IS listening.
In our love, the wonder of what God has wrought in our lives is renewed every day.... the thanks offered up to Him for this reflection of His love for us that is echoed in our love for one another...the confidence that we have to come to Him, hand in hand, with any concerns that are on our hearts, and know that we are heard.
As we have to become as a child to enter the kingdom of heaven, I believe we also have to love as a child to know the true depths and heights that true love can bring...and oh, how I hope that in this I will never grow up!
