Behold, ‘The Lamb of God’

John’s gospel, John 1:29, 36 Jesus is declared by John the Baptist as ‘The Lamb of God.’ This expression of Jesus this way is found only in these two verses in the bible.
When we look at God’s representation of ‘The Lamb of God’, we must look at our Lord as coming for us as the Father’s perfect example for us to follow.
He asks us to be holy as He is holy, what is He expecting from us? Our Lord shares, “Truly, truly, I say to you he who believes in Me , the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” John 14:12 NASB
Too often we perceive the physical world as the only source of ability, which is limited only to the best intellect of human reasoning.
However, if we come to the Creator of the universe, going beyond the power of human ability, we can better grasp the limitless resource of God.
Consider the Great Commission, when at His ascension he declared, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” [Acts1:8 NASB]
In this world we’re limited, but in God’s infinite world and resource, there are no boundaries. No continent or ocean to exempt us from fulfilling the tasks He brings before us.
If what Jesus said is to be true, and we believe that nothing is impossible with God, then consider what it is, when we lead a lost soul to the Lord that he or she may receive eternal life. To be made a new creature in Christ, raising a soul once dead and lost, now brought to the Lamb of God’ for eternity, with life everlasting.
John 9:4 Jesus said, ‘We must work the works of Him who sent Me’…He’s referring to you and me, not only His chosen apostles, or the 70, or the 120, but each one that carry the name “Christian” as follower of Jesus.
As we ‘Behold the Lamb of God’, we’ve only to be mindful, ‘Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world.’ [1John 4:4]
Many things will God do through us when we become obedient to the prompting of His leading by way of His holy spirit.
The apostle John concluded his gospel when he alluded to the things which Jesus did when he said, ‘I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written’. [John 21:25b NASB]
We must without shame or fear, step out of the boat on the water, keeping our eyes upon Jesus. As with Peter, He’ll not allow us to sink if we keep our eyes upon ‘The Lamb of God.’
