Congratulations you are going to have a baby!
Sue and Tom stood in the doctors office looking at each other.
Sue turned white and Tom helped her set down.
“ No, that is not possible. You see I had a procedure done and they told me there would be no more children.”
“ Mrs Wood I am quite sure you are going to have a baby, but we can schedule you for an ultra sound if you like.”
Tom just grinned as the doctor looked at him for affirmation.
“But Doctor our son is eighteen, graduating from High School this year!” Sue exclaimed.
“Mrs Wood this is not uncommon and you are still young.”
Tom rubbed her back and spoke softly “Honey this is our little gift from God, It will be great. We’ll just trust Him.”
“Let me check the procedure and your records then we will do an ultrasound the make sure everything is Ok.” her doctor assured her.
That was the first of many sleepless, sick nights for Sue.
She wrestled within herself knowing that only God give life. She had prepared herself for the time when there son was gone, thinking her home would soon be " and empty nest. Just she and Tom.
“I’m not sure I can handle another Lord.”
“I am not ready to start over, it’s too hard.”
“Please forgive me and take away the guilt.”
Earily that morning the phone rang, it was the doctor ,
“ Mrs Wood I need you and your husband to come in, I want to run some tests and speak with you.
“Is everything alright?” Sue ask, as her heart leaped into her throat.
Questions bombarded her thoughts ..What if I lose my baby? What if there is no baby? Could I have cancer?
“Doctor is this about the baby?”
Please don’t worry Mrs Wood I am sure everything is fine we are just wanting to run a few more tests.”
Later that week Tom and Sue again sat in the Doctor’s office.
“I am going to be quite frank with you. There is only one known case where a woman became pregnant after the procedure you had”
“We are going to keep very close watch on you and if you seem to have any symptoms that are abnormal please call and I will get you into a specialist.”
“ Abnormal! this whole thing seems abnorman to me!” Sue interjected.
“I’m sure you feel that way but you know that is not so and until we see any problems therr is no reason to borrow trouble. Now just go home and relax and I’ll see you in two weeks.”
More frightened now that she would lose the baby rather than have another, Sue faced a whole new type of stress.
Tom was there for her and the solid foundation she needed.
“ Honey I am sure this is from God, and I really don’t think there will be any problems at all. Lets just trust him one day at a time and watch our little miracle he has given.”
Sue had never gone through such mental and physical testing. She knew God was there. He was always giving her verses as she had her devotons, to her to confort and reassure her.
In her fifth month they did a 3-D ultra sound measuring every tiny part and looking at all of the internal organs. They did indeed have a beautiful perfect baby boy.
The morning sickness was subsiding and she began to look forward to there new son.
Sue can now say with true faith ..” nothing is impossible with God.
Such a sweeter walk she has never known and so many of the other “worries” have disappeared.
Teenage troubles can be one of those things that drive you crazy. Sue has her share with her eighteen year old, but trusting the Lord with one problem often increases your faith to trust in another.
“Doesn’t he tell us to Trust and lean not on your own understanding?” Those few inches from our head to our heart sometimes ends up being miles.
Sometimes He just has to take life out of our control for us, to show us He is never out of control.Prov. 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and He will direct thy path.
