During the course of the Israeli-Hamas conflict an event occurred tht gives more evidence that the Bible, including the Old Testament, is inspired and can be taken literally. A rocket fired from Gaza by Hamas was headed for a populated area, and Israel's Iron Dome defense system was unable to shoot it down. With only four seconds remaining before impact a sudden and powerful wind whipped up and sent the missile into the sea. Coincidence, you think?
This incident of the missile was a direct fulfillment of a prophecy made thousands of years ago in Zechariah 12:8 which reads, "In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem." What adds to its significance is that an Hamas military leader said, "We do aim our rockets but their God changes their path in mid-air." It can also be seen from scripture that much is said about God controlling the weather to accomplish his purposes, but it is not limited only to weather. The Old Testament is full of stories where divine intervention has occurred. We can add this current event of the deflected missile to the list of these Old Testament accounts.
Since this prophesied event happened literally then the Old Testament stories can also be taken literally, which means the Bible is true. There are dozens of other prophesies which have been fulfilled literally, and are being fulfiled literally, right now. Even though the Bible has figures of speech, symbolism, allegories, parables, and many other things that all literature has, does not mean the rest of it should not be taken literally. Would one read a history book or a non-fiction story with non-literal events, but then because of that believe that none of the rest of what is being read is true? Of course not.
There are Jews alive in Jerusalem today because of God fulfilling prophecy. God has always been on the side of Israel and always will be. You wait and see what God does in the future on behalf of Israel. You ain't seen nothin yet! If you are a Christian you won't see a lot of it because it is going to happen during the Great Tribulation, and Christians will already be gone. It is also significant that what is going on right now in respect to Israel is within the time frame of the four blood moons.
The Bible is the divinely inspired word of God, and God is demonstrating that in our current events. You can stake your life and your eternal destiny on it.
