***ENCOURAGE YOURSELF***
''And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.''
Life is in seasons and each season carries its own reality which we would inevitably have to live with. There would be times when we would be surrounded by friends, fans, well-wishers and at other times they wouldn't just be there and even when you search for them the result is that in the end they'd be unable to make your present situation better. Such was the situation David was in. After the whole nation had been plundered: women and children taken captive, the city burned with fire. the immediate response of MEN was to weep and they did so till their strength went out. But David, the scripture says 'encouraged himself in the LORD his GOD'. You must know today that a phase would come in your life when there'd be no one else to rely upon. Your ability to repond differently from others would be dependent on what you have built your life upon.
A hymnal kine goes thus: 'when all around my soul gives way, he then is all my hope and stay'
When all around your soul gives way would you still have a hope and a standing? David could not encourage himself with even the men that were with him. David decided to look away from the environment and shifted his gaze to heaven. He encouraged himself in the LORD his GOD.
Do you have a relationship with God? Its your relationship with God that would see you through LIfe's tough challenges.
You might be going through unpleasant times at the moment but God says today: ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN ME.
Central Truth: Times would come when God would be your last and only resort at those times encourage yourself in Him, comfort yourself in His Love for you.
FOCUS SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 30:6
PRAYER:
Lord, when all around my life gives way may i always remain assured and encouraged when i look to thee for help for my help comes from you alone...
