PREVIOUSLY IN THE MYSTERIOUS CITIES OF GOLD REVISITED...
Ben and his friends meet Juan, the pilot of the private plane. Juan shows them the plane, and Ben agrees to fly it. At Juan's insistence, they stay in a hotel the night before their first flight to avoid Ben falling asleep and crashing.
AND NOW, HERE IS WHERE WE CURRENTLY ARE IN THE STORY...
After a good night's sleep in the hotel, the travelers went back to the airport, went back to the place where the private plane was, climbed inside the plane, and took off. Ben sat up front in the middle with Stephanie and Matthew on either side of him and Alexis and Lionel in the back. Matthew agreed to be Ben's navigator, since he knew a lot about direction, and he let Ben know when they were flying south toward the Andes.
As they flew, the weather started getting windy. The wind made a long tree branch swing and hit the airplane, causing the plane to crash! Down, down, down it went until it landed in a forest. Ben rubbed his head and looked around. "Is everyone OK?" he asked. "Steph, are you all right?"
Stephanie nodded. "I'm all right."
"So are we," said everyone else. Just to be sure, though, they double checked to make sure no one had any sign of concussion or neck or back injury. Everyone was all right except for some bruises.
"We'll find some shelter and give everyone first aid for the bruises," Alexis said. "It doesn't look like there were any worse injuries. Let's make sure the plane still works so we won't be stranded in the forest."
"Good idea, honey," Lionel said. As the group was checking the plane, they suddenly heard growling and hissing noises. They turned around and saw snakes and wildcats approaching them!
"Quick, everyone, grab sticks!" Lionel shouted. "We must fend off these animals!"
Everyone picked up long sticks and began hitting the animals. Most of the animals either slithered or ran away, but a ferocious wildcat tore into Ben's arm, causing a massive amount of blood to run out!
"Ben!" Stephanie cried. "Oh, no, you're hurt!" As Lionel hit the wildcat that attacked Ben really hard, causing it to roar in pain and then run away, Ben fainted from his blood loss! "BEN!" Stephanie screamed. She started to cry. "Someone, get help, please!"
Just then a young girl came up to them. "Hello, everyone. I'm Cera, and I live in these woods. I will help you." She helped Stephanie lift Ben onto their shoulders, and they went to Cera's house. "I know all about medicine and treating people's wounds. I figured I'd better learn how, since I live in this dangerous forest." Everyone watched as she washed Ben's wounds and poured an antiseptic on his wounds, then wrapped them very well with bandages. The whole time she was working, she found herself impressed by Ben's muscular physique and handsome features. When Ben came to, he saw Stephanie by his bedside. "Stephanie," he said weakly, taking her hand.
"Oh, Ben, you're all right!" Stephanie whispered. She leaned down and kissed Ben. "I was so scared."
Cera felt jealousy like a poison course through her veins. She decided to get rid of Stephanie. "Would anyone like a drink?" she asked, secretly planning to poison Stephanie's drink.
Everyone said they would drink anything as long as it was non-alcoholic. "I'll be right back," Cera said. She went into the kitchen and prepared the beverages. When she got to Stephanie's, she began putting some deadly pills into it! Just as she was doing this, Lionel came into the kitchen to see why she was taking longer. When he did, he heard her say with an evil cackle, "Once Stephanie drinks this, she will die, and I can have Ben!"
"Stop!" Lionel shouted. He went up to Cera, grabbed the bottle away from her, and threw it out the window. "You are not going to hurt any of my friends! If you think killing Stephanie will make Ben be yours, you are wrong! He will see you as nothing but a vicious killer and not even want you!"
Cera broke down and cried. "I--I'm sorry," she said. "I've never tried to kill anyone before. I--I'm just so lonely in these woods, I want someone to love. I--I just went crazy." She was sincerely sorry, and she sank to the floor and broke down in deep sobs. "My parents were killed by wild animals, and that's why I spent my whole life learning about medicine, but I got lonely. I--I just wanted someone to love."
Lionel put his arms around her. "Cera, everyone wants love. I'm very sorry about your family. I know it hurts to be lonely and to lose loved ones. But harming others is not the way to get love. You are already loved. God loves you."
"Will He still love me after what I just tried to do to Stephanie?" Cera sobbed.
Lionel nodded. He witnessed to Cera, and she accepted Jesus into her life.
