Song Lyrics
Put Your Trust in The Lord
Copyright Nov 18, 2005
By: Rick L King
Last night there was a storm
And blew all that I had away
I wondered just what I would do
I wondered where I would stay
All that I owned
And all that I possessed
Had just washed away
I felt that I had been so blessed
The flood just came
And washed my life away
All that I had worked for
The place I loved to stay
I then seem to hear
Those words my momma would say
When difficult times would come
I would see my momma pray
She’d rise up from her knees
With a smile upon her face
And look at me with love
And these were the words to me that she would say
CHORUS
Put your trust in the Lord
No matter what comes your way
Jesus is still our Lord
There will be a better day
Sometimes these things just happen
And we can turn to Him or run away
You see the world is just not our home
It’s in His presence where you and I must stay
Now when there is a storm
And the waters once again do rise
Because of momma I’m much smarter
And am so much more wise
For God now fills my heart
As He is always so near
His love protects and surrounds me
And eliminates all of the fear.
All those earthly things
Which I use to build my life upon
Can never compare
With all that I found in God’s Son.
CHORUS
Put your trust in the Lord
No matter what comes your way
Jesus is still our Lord
There will be a better day
Sometimes these things just happen
And we can turn to Him or run away
You see the world is just not our home
It’s in His presence where you and I must stay.
The cares of this world
Will never be my life again
For when I lost everything
My life truly just began
For He alone is our peace
And will carry us through the stormy days
Life is not about what we can keep
It is about what we, like Him, do give away
Now the floods may come
But because of what momma said
I find myself at peace
And can at night lay down my head
CHORUS
Put your trust in the Lord
No matter what comes your way
Jesus is still our Lord
There will be a better day
Sometimes these things just happen
And we can turn to Him or run away
You see the world is just not our home
It’s in His presence where you and I must stay.
This song hopefully will be seen by Scotty McCreery as I know of no way to contact him.
