"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" - (Matthew 16:18, NKJV)

Peter had just responded to Jesus' question of who the apostles think He is. He answered Jesus and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” (verse 16). And Jesus was saying to Peter, "upon Me, Christ the Son of the living God, shall I build My church." The church of Christ is you and I. Jesus is the Foundation upon which you and I stand. We do not stand on our own. We do not belong to ourselves. We are Christ's; Christ, the Son of the living God.
"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." - (I Corinthians 3:11, KJV)

"Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?" - (Matthew 21:42, KJV)

Being a child of God is not a cliche'. It never has been; it never will be. It stands to mean exactly what it says. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. Anyone who is in Christ is standing on Christ, dwelling in Christ. Anyone who is in Christ is being supported, held up by the Chief Cornerstone - Christ Himself. Anyone who is in Christ is the artwork of the living God sculptured on Christ. Anyone who is in Christ is most assuredly on the winning side. Anyone who is in Christ is God's masterpiece. Anyone who is in Christ is God's treasure, highly valued.

Being a child of God means being a child of the King of kings. It is being a child of the Strong Man Himself.
"Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house." - (Matthew 12:29, KJV)

So, there has been a lot of noise coming from the devil lately. He threatens to let all hell loose on the church of Christ...on you and I. He's got a great army. He's seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He's all out for anything.

Oh my God! What chance does the church of Christ stand? How shall we overcome this treacherous army of the devil?
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array_

Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: and the Lord shall utter His voice before His army: for His camp is very great: for He is strong that executeth His word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?" - (Joel 2:1-11, KJV)

O yes, the devil is treacherous but God is more. The devil knows how to destory but God is the Consuming Fire. The devil has a great army but God's is the greatest. In the army of God are you and I. Yes, the church is the army of God. God is a Man of war. Yes you and I, standing on the Rock are far greater than the devil's army. Let him let loose his army, let's roast them all.

"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7, NKJV)

Remain on the Rock. No other foundation has been built. The only way possible for the devil to get a hold of you (as you remain in Christ) is to first of all bind the Strong Man of the house (Jesus). And I don't see that ever happening...ever. The only way the devil will flee from you when you resist him is if you remain in submission to God. All that the Father has given to the Son (which is you and I), the Son shall preserve and though the devil cometh, he shall find nothing in us.

The only resistance that is effective against the devil is abiding under the Shadow of the Almighty. We must remain active in God's force!
