God is a God of love and goodness. Sure there is adversity, evil, and injustice in the world. Adversity can be a good thing because it helps us mature as people and to seek the Lord. Evil and injustice are largely due to the free will that every human being has, tainted by a sinful nature. God is good and loving but He is not going to control your life like some robot. People are free to make their own choices. Poor choices will many times result in injustice or evil, and many other ills of our culture. That is not God's fault, is it. So, if God is basically good and loving why do so many people choose not to seek Him? That question will be answered a little later, but first, let's look at some of the attributes of God in how He deals with mortal and sinful individuals.

Psalm 145 lists the following: gracious, merciful, slow to anger, great in lovingkindness, good to all, his mercies are over all HIS works, he sustains all who fall, raises up those who are bowed down, gives food in due time, satisfies the desire of every living thing, righteous in all his ways, and is kind in all his deeds.

So, why WOULD anyone turn their back on a God like this? The number one reason is that "the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ..." (II Cor. 4:4)

Romans, chapter one, has this to say. People have chosen to suppress the truth, to not honor Him as God, to exchange the truth of God for a lie, and have not seen fit to acknowledge God any longer. Therefore, it says that God has "given them over" to their own lusts, devices, and sinful passions. In doing so, they will also reap the consequences.

We are all, however, accountable to our Creator. Psalm 145 also has this to say, in verses 18 and 19. "The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them." You can CHOOSE to call upon the goodness of God today.
