“Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.” (Luke 12:3 KJV)

I was sent an article this morning that spoke of how easy smart phones are to hack and how rampant the hacks are likely to become if we do not secure our devices for our own protection. I often wonder if the spirit in which such articles are written and readily published is to actually promote a general sense of distrust. A sense of who may be watching me now. Didn't someone already write a song about this? :-) (Rockwell, 1984) The funny thing is that we live in a society where it seems like everyone is doing their level best to publish as much about themselves as they possibly can. Everyone wants to be “Liked”, “Followed”, “G +1'd”, or “Pinned”. We want to “link in” and are consumed by what others think of us. No situation, conversation, reaction, or incident is likely to have any privacy whatsoever and is likely to be forwarded, printed, quoted, and followed up with a full blog style dialog on what should be.

Not to minimize the very real damage that is likely to be experienced by someone, as Christians we have an even more clear and present reality. The whole world is watching us at multiple levels to see if the faith and trust that we possess in Christ is for real. In a very present sense we have a specific need to directly reflect the light of God. When they do hear our conversations, see where we have been, know whom we speak with, and see how we release situations with a peace that passes understanding to someone they have a hard time comprehending, we ought to be caught doing exactly what God's Word tell us to do. When we fail, as frequently as that may be, they see a humbleness and repentance that is unlike any finger pointing and blame game that they are used to. 1 John 4:16-18 says it best. Love actually casts our fear. Not because there is not risk in our daily transactions, but because we are intentional about being open about were we place our stock. It makes you second guess what information you should be managing as it may be there intentionally for review.

“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.” (Luke 12:4 KJV)
