Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.-
As recorded satan told the first lie in the history of man and this was to Eve, in the Garden of Eden. After he cunningly planted the seed of doubt in Eve’s mind about what God commanded with a question (Genesis 3:1),contradicting God’s Word by telling her, “You will not certainly die”(Genesis 3:4). One thing led to another, that lie led Eve to her death; subsequently Adam and WE ALL.
A man cannot give what he does not have. This also applies in the situation of standing in honour as a ‘truthful’ person!
Many people are so ENTRAPPED in always telling an untruth to the point that they do not even know how to tell the truth anymore neither do they understand it when it confronts them, living a whole lifetime like this.
This is a serious situation because it has become in many families and amongst many people, a generational INHERITANCE.
* 2 Samuel 13; ;
There is a danger in Sin which gradually turns to Iniquity because in most cases when a parent is battling with a particular sin, that sinful tendency becomes a part of the spiritual inheritance of his children and children’s children after them unless the parent takes steps to break the CURSE.
A perfect example in the Bible on generational lies and lie telling is the case of Abraham and David’s lineages-Abraham struggled often with TRUTH TELLING especially in difficult circumstances!
Isaac told a similar lie as his father before him, Jacob the grandchild told lies and was named as such. Jacob’s sons conspired against their kith and kin Joseph and LIED to their father afterwards. This clearly shows a pattern of dishonesty in the ancestry which is more than a learned behavioral pattern from parents rather a part of man’s fallen nature.
David's family line seemed to be overwhelmed by the shackles of the sins of adultery, deception, conspiracy, including murder. David sinned in all these areas while he constantly struggled, especially as king and leader, with the lust of the flesh
David's son Amnon raped Tamar his half-sister (2 Samuel 13:1-2). Absalom (brother of Tamar, half-brother of Amnon) murdered Amnon.
Absalom also conspired against David while Solomon (King and son of David) later fell into the trap of pursuing fleshly lusts.
‘David's sins’ led to resultant effect of the generational curse that plagued his descendants, David's descendants would not have faced the same PRESSURES to commit those sins if David hadn't committed them first
Today, Satan still uses people to spread his lies for him and down their ancestry, often, he uses intellectualism and logic (foolishness in God’s sight though!) to further his falsehoods, as in the case of false religions and cults which abound in our time.
Many of Satan’s lies tend to link to the next in this wise: Eve convinced Adam to also believe the devil’s lie.
Lying is Satan’s principal weapon against God’s children. He uses the ploy of deception to separate droves of people from their heavenly Father.
Some of his more common lies today are, “there is no God,” “God doesn’t care about you,” “the Bible cannot be trusted,” and “your good works alone will get you into heaven.”
The apostle Paul warns us that Satan “masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), so that what he says and does SOUNDS GOOD,SEEMS REASONABLE, BEWARE IT IS NOTHING BUT FALSE APPEARANCE.
Behold, I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves; be wary and wise as serpents, and be innocent (harmless, guileless, and without falsity) as doves.
-Matthew 10:16
Exodus 20:5
