“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galatians 6:7-8 KJV)

This deals with what is sown as opposed to the manner in which it is sown or the quantity of the seeds attempted.

What is reaped reveals what was sown. Ever bury something hoping nothing will come of it and it sprouts letting everyone know not only that something was planted there, but exactly what it was that was planted?

The soil at first is very fertile and almost anything planted there will grow. Yet as the soil is worked, depleted, and eroded less grows. Effectively narrows the commercial possibilities. Why does the productivity of the soil not increase with our efforts instead of it constantly requiring more effort? The whole point of managing better is to get more with less effort. Is it part of God’s plan to allow the soil to shape us as we are working it? It would make sense if He first made us from the soil. There is certainly a part of us that returns to dust while other parts He grows into fruit bearing plants. Fruits that last and have no end. Fruits that come from seed that His Holy Spirit planted in conviction that help us grow in trust, belief, and repentance.

Again, this passage specifically deals with what is sown. We can deal with both the miraculous and the obvious of how a seed grows. The focus cannot leave “what” was planted. Jesus has provided a way for us to ask from the Father. What are we asking? What is at the core of what we are asking? The trick for a manager is to determine what kind of harvest he wants before going to the table to ask. The one who surrenders starts the process with asking and is grown from there. The plant may need pruning, watering, and take a whole lot of work, but that which is planted in surrender to God is God’s plant. It is distinguished from the weeds sown that are not His.

“Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.” (Jeremiah 5:24-25 KJV)
