I have often heard this, of the world but in the world saying many times. But what does it mean? We are on this earth, we are around all types of people from different walks of life and religion. How do we this live "in" but not "of" the world?
Faith, we do it by faith, one day and one step at a time. I had a preacher many years ago, and many times in services say, "sin will take you farther than you want to go". That is so true. If we stay innocent and pure of heart and in our mind and never sin then it wont be in us to sin. How many perfect people do you know?? yeah that's what I thought, there is and will always be 1 perfect, and that is Jesus. He left us his guide and instructions in the word of God. It is still hard to read and get all of this at once. I started with a verse and a word for 2014 to live by and live up to. My verse is in part its genesis 17:1
I am the almighty God walk before me and be thou perfect.
my word is, sincere or sincerity. I am praying for a more sincere heart and life and to be closer to Jesus than ever.
Does he mean actually be perfect to Abraham when God says this to him? He means upright, righteous before men.
We do not have to take part in what is going on around us, its a choice to sin. What will you do to become more perfect in the eyes of God and be a better example to family and friends that are watching you?
Start by reading your bible daily. Get a book and write down the favorite verses for reference later. Pray more and longer, attend church. One thing I have also started doing this year, is putting on the whole armor of God before each day begins. I literally read Ephesians 6/10 and put on each piece as I say it. Where will you start?
