Encouragement
Listening to believers near and far and all within the perimeter, there is a notable weakening of hope and faith in God. Now before you grow angry with what I say, please read and let me explain. By no means am I saying that believers are not believing in God or that they are falling from Him or that their hearts are wrong when it comes to God. What I am saying is that no matter how hard we try not to loose a hope or faith in God rescuing this world, we just can’t fight that doubt and hope for change, whether its large or small, it happens to all of us.
This world is beyond wicked, it is so dark and evil that believers are being choked out little by little. Don’t get me wrong, believers are still alive for God all over this earth. But with so much coming against believers and against God and His Son Jesus, the shadow of death is covering as much of the Light that it possibly can. And not one of us can honestly say that we haven’t cried out to God at least once begging Him to please stop this world and its wicked ways, having that little bit of doubt and worry in the back of our minds. And listen, God understands our doubt. We are human and doubt was born into us because of the curse of sin we breathed when we were born. He doesn’t hate us for that and He isn’t angry about it. Remember the Psalm of David:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” -Psalm 23
He does want us to know that He is always with us and He does have a plan to change this world. No it may not be when we want the change to be. What we have to keep in mind, is that it is when God wants the change to be, not when we want it. And in the end, that is all that matters, that change is coming! Yes change is coming by the Hand of God! If it were not so, He would not have told us through His Word. Joel first told us what is to come from God:
“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.” -Joel 2:28-32
This gives hope to hang on to. He knows we as humans still harbor doubt at times, so He told us again through Peter:
“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” -Acts 2:17-21
Those you see living in the world through the flesh will even be touched by God and they will see their error in life and make the change towards living for God. Hope is what we need and hope is what God gives us. No matter how bad things may seem or how far gone from God a loved one may appear, God can make change in a moment. I know it is hard to keep faith strong all the time, I struggle with that too. But when we feel weak and begin to doubt and fear and wonder if God is every going to help us and this world, this is when we should remember this passages in God’s Holy Word. He will never go back on what He has told us. A great change is coming and it is coming sooner than we know or believe. And that great change is something that wicked darkness can’t penetrate no matter what weapon it uses because the change is coming from God. And with God, nothing is impossible!
“And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.” -1 Corinthians 6:14
