"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple." Psalm 27:4
While the carnal crowd lusts after the flesh pots of Egypt, entertainment and divers desires which please the lusts of the eyes and cater to the pride of life, the true believer has his focus on the cross and what Christ suffered on that cruel tree at Calvary over 2,000 years ago. He would see Jesus in all His glory and beauty (John 12:21)
Those who have tasted that the Lord is good can never drink deeply enough from that well of living water which alone satisfies and never runs dry. Out of all the various desires a man or woman could want the child of God says with King David "One thing have I desired" and attaches to that desire the only one potentate who can grant it, namely "the LORD." One thing have I desired of the LORD and that will I seek after.
Does your soul cry out this day oh that I might find Him? Have you been content wearing the name of Christian but without desiring to behold the beauty of the LORD? Oh shame that such a worthy savior, meek, full of mercy and love should so little be sought after among a crowd of religious people professing to be His followers and disciples.
We, who would see Jesus, should not linger long on this sin cursed planet if bidden to join the celestial throng where Jesus has His saints gathered together beholding the beauty of the Lord. In the holy heaven above Jesus is worshiped and loved. Suppose Jesus were standing outside your home knocking on your door could you abide one minute brushing your hair or making your bed without rushing to open the door and inviting Jesus in as a welcome guest? "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20
If you knew Jesus were passing through your neighborhood at a certain hour would you miss his appearance for some worldly parade or football game on your new plasma TV? Friend if so then you are not yet worthy to behold His beauty. It would do you well to cry out to God for mercy upon your impenitent and stony heart for in doing so you might well shed some tears and weep profusely for your sinful and callous disposition which loves the world perhaps more than the Lord and savior you profess to follow. "Sorrow is better than laughter for by the sadness of the heart the countenance is made better." Ecclesiastes 7:3
and we also read "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15
However, if you are ready to meet your Lord then blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4,8)and if your heart is pure by the faith of Jesus and the stony heart removed then you shall see God and flee to thy bosom friend whose afflictions and pain hath removed thy sin stain and made you fit for the mansion above and in seeing Jesus you shall have your one desire even to behold the beauty of the Lord.
