Prayers
Why prayers are not answered ?
Prayers are not answered because we do not understand the dynamics of how it works. The mechanics and stance of our praying is facing the wrong direction. We pray to God. We pray for things. Praying to an external God, praying for things to materialize. Our father in heaven is unlike our earthly parent, however we persist in our childhood mindset of asking our parents for things and permission to do things, thinking even if we don't voice it out loud that our heavenly father is the same way that we need to get his permission for his provision. As endearing as that image invokes, "Our father" and many theology has even been birthed out of it and as much as we visualize and drummed up our feelings for the love of God the father in heaven with our mind and will, it works not the righteousness of God, for God our creator is a spirit and we a soul in his spirit. I hope I have by now set a stage of why things concerning prayer is so wrong and we persist in that wrongness. Before I propose a corrective path, i like to illiterate that God is a spirit and he is as cliche as it sounds all powerful and all knowing. We need not ask for permission or things in the sense that there is lack of control even if it's for our own good. Christianity has set itself up for failure if I may say so. It promises almost literally Heaven and earth but the realization of it by mortal Christian is miserable considering we have 2000 over years of practice and great teachings of saints to stand on. Heaven would have been ushered onto earth by now you would think but no !
The church and Christians seems to be going nowhere with their spirituality and understanding of spiritual things much less how prayer actually works. Abide in me and i in you, ask whatever you will and it shall be granted you. Seek you first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be given you. Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. Wow ! These are powerful statements made even more powerful by the author of these words, no other than the Son of God. Ask and you shall receive in a capsule is what these verses is implying but look at our individual track record and collectively as a church. How many prayers hours, individually or collectively in meetings and services have been logged ? What is the hit rate to put it crudely and bluntly ? If it's less than 100% I think something somewhere is wrong, but we continue blindly in blind faith, accepting that we must have sin or we must have ask amiss. And have you heard the equally preposterous idea that the answer we get is yes, no and maybe later. It's preposterous when you considered we have a very spiritually poetic God that created the whole cosmos with its starry stars and Lilly in the valley and he gives us mono syllable answers ! If the church's and Christianity's were a car, its RPM is very high but the distance covered is still baby steps still drinking milk. True Christianity has been lost. I believe there was time, that Christianity was not hit and miss. It was a workable religion because it has spirituality. It was connected to spirit. However the modern western scientific industrial revolution has hijacked that and what is left of the modern western centric church in this age of impressive science and technology in machine and mind has void it of its roots. I think somewhere locked in the Vatican's library or some ancient monasteries are spiritual books that contains words of true Christianity even how to turn water unto wine or walk on water for after all these are acts, not of the apostles but of our lord, teacher and Master Jesus Christ. However, we are so suspicious of our own motives that we say, why should we want these things. The scripture says, not all things Jesus did was recorded and Jesus himself said, greater works shall we do. The acts of Jesus in the bible is impressive enough and it says there are even more things he did that was not recorded, how awesome is that ? I wonder what else did he do ? And he says greater things shall we do a ! 2000 odd years later, what have we to show ? Isn't it terrible ? Don't you think something is wrong somewhere ? It's time we consider the Acts of Jesus and give it the glory it deserve, not that I am down playing the acts of the apostles but lets return to the heart of the matter. Return and consider where the source of Jesus's Acts for he said greater things shall you do and here we can't even get 100% hit rate from our prayers.
Reason I propose we do not is that we are not praying through the God or the spirit. We don't really believe that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit because we have never been into the temple lest abiding in Him. The psalmist say, be still and know I am God. Be still, it says, but we are busily praying, asking, petitioning, requesting, pleading, cajoling, reasoning and all the things we do. He says, be still and know I am God. Samuel must have been very active and busy boy during the day, that's why God has to call him in the night and it takes 3 times and actually that's pretty good for I use to not even know when God is calling me lest 3 times. Aren't our prayers in vain then like the Pharisees for we are praying from our own mind and not the mind of God. First let the mind of Christ be in us then pray through that mind. That mind that is cleared of all egoistic attachments to the definition of the false self and the identity material self which cannot be unless there is true repentance. To know true repentance, listen to Michael Smiths' Heart to worship especially when he sings "Lord I am sorry for the things I have made it". When we take the "i" out of sin and replace it with a big nothing like "O" we become son. Sons and daughters of God. We are not originally sinners. We were originally divine. The sinful prodigal son did not return to a sinful father to a original sinful state, did he ? He returned to his Father's house and was reinstated with his inherent right as a prince. Aren't we that way ? But to return to the Father's house, is to come to a realization, an awareness that we are wrong and so very far away from home. That's true repentance. Not just giving lip service. There are times we say sorry like for being 5 minutes late, there are times we say sorry and we are deeply sorry and we have no excuse or defense. We a just vulnerable. True repentance can come only when we have a glimpse of truth, not when we are still in darkness or still wallowing in our self pity or self righteousness. I am sorry but.....
Problem is we have too many salvation without enlightenment. Religion without spirituality. Till we do that, we will still not be abiding in Christ and when we are not abiding in Christ, don't even pray. In that abiding consciousness is a consciousness of omnipresence and omniscient, the presence of God. Or have you experience a time when you are so intense and maybe desperate that you need to know what to do, and to know it here and now ? I can bet during those times when you pray, although you might not yet the answer that you want, something will be birth within you, a certain knowingness and fierceness that this is the way to go, come what may. If you can duplicate that moment every tine you pray, your prayer will be answered 100% or you can like the psalmist say "Be Still and know I am God". This is to entice you to find our more on how you can know God and get your prayers answered 100% of the time. Be like Job of Chapter 42 where he says "Before I have only heard of you but now I have seen You !" consider this Job was a righteous man, he worshipped and did all that was required and yet he say later "Before I have only heard of you but now I have seen You !" . That's because God opened his spiritual eyes "In whirlwind and thunderstorm". Email me if you like to know more.
