Daniel looked around at the unfamiliar landscape and couldn't help but feel that he had seen it somewhere before. The last he could remember, he had been in prayer, like he was every day. Was this a vision? He wondered. He picked himself up off of the ground and began to walk around the buzzing city. Finally, he stopped in front of the largest building and slid his eyes shut. He suddenly remembered everything.
With steely determination and keen awareness of where he was, Daniel entered the palace and stared in awe at the majestic surroundings.
"Excuse me, sir, but are you supposed to be here?" asked a young voice from behind him.
Daniel turned to face an average-built youth with deep red hair. He smiled to himself, in deepest admiration of who this was. The youth didn't know it yet, but he would become legendary, known to all his descendants as a great man.
"Yes," Daniel finally answered him. "I believe I am supposed to be here." He took a few tentative steps forward and extended a hand. "My name is Daniel."
The youth shook his hand heartily and smiled. "I'm David. What is your business here?"
Daniel furrowed his brow as he replayed all that had happened to him. "I don't know if you would believe the truth," he replied honestly. He was a youth as well, who would believe what he had to say?
"I promise I will at least hear you out," David promised.
"I believe Adonai brought me here."
David laughed merrily. "Doesn't He direct all our steps?"
Daniel shook his head vehemently. David, intelligent though he was, just wasn't getting what he was trying to tell him. "He literally brought me here, highness," Daniel said.
David's smile diminished. "I am not royal, Daniel. I am simply a boy who can play a harp."
Daniel breathed a laugh. "In Adonai's hands, no one is simply anything. I am trying to tell you how I got here. I was in prayer, and the next thing I knew, I was in the middle of the street. I do not know if this is a vision or not, but obviously you can see me as well. I do not exactly know how Adonai did it, but I believe I have regressed in time. You see, I am supposed to be living several hundred years from now."
"I am sure I do not know what you mean," David replied in confusion. "How is that possible?"
"In the same way that it is possible for you to be king. Has Adonai not said it, and will He not do it?"
David smiled again, finally. "Of course. You are a prophet, are you not?"
Daniel nodded profusely. "I suppose I am. But in a far future time. I do not know why I am here, but I am more than willing to find out."
