Encouragement
I hate how depression robs us of hope. It causes us to question our faith and God’s promises and love for us. We need hope to get through this life on earth. Hope is the “wellspring” of life. It waters our hearts and quenches the thirst of our heart and soul.
My faith in God’s promise to give me a hope and a future is what has made my recovery from a recent life interruption possible. When we feel hopeless our faith diminishes. This gives the enemy a foot into our lives. Unless we actively seek God’s help through prayer, your life can spiral out of control very quickly.
I know it is hard to do anything when you are really depressed. Just getting out of bed or making it to the couch can be a big accomplishment. Depression zaps energy, motivation, and our interest in the people and things around us. I understand, I really do.
However, if you are in this painful and miserable state….. I know you want to get out of it. Who wants to willingly be in such pain? The black pit of despair is no place to live the rest of your life. I have often said, “At least they cut my brain tumor out and my health returned. I wish doctors could figure out a way to cut out depression as easily as they cut out my tumor.”
Dear Reader,
I am not a doctor but I do hope you have a good one whom you can talk to about your sadness and stress. I also hope you are allowing friends and family visit, even when you are in your pajamas and don’t want to talk. Finally, it is my prayer that someone throws you a rope to help you out of your pit of depression. I do not recommend that they get in the pit with you because then there will be two souls who need to be rescued.
Don’t forget that even if you can’t read the bible, you can listen to it on the radio. God understands your limits. Feeding your spirit with God’s truth will help to battle the lies that satan brews by feeding your soul hopelessness. Hang in there and know that I care. God is holding you under the shadow of His wing until you gain back strength and your hope is restored. Oh, how He loves you my dears.
PROVERB 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
ROMANS 8:24-25
For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
ROMANS 12:12
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
