Ever since I learned of that the word "behold" in Matthew 2 has to do with the sentries of antiquity, I have been turning that over in my mind. It is akin to a guard saying,"Halt!" Who goes there? First we have to identify ourselves. (And hopefully we can do that from scripture the way John the Baptist did it, a voice in the wilderness etc. only using different scripture of course that speaks for us personally) And then the sentry asks," Where is He that was born King of the Jews?" And now for us He is at the right hand of the Father, a reminder that there at His right hand is where we are to be positionally as well. 'Seek those things that are above(one of thost things is certainly intercession), we have been raised to that same place through baptism. The same word "behold" is then applied to the guiding star in the same chapter. Stop! Are we attuned to the ways He is guiding us (not with nagging but with nudging) as surely as he guided them to their particular destiny in a specific place?
