God Disciplines His children; but compensates with blessings of Grace.

We all must know, whom God disciplines who and why? Hebrew 12:6 says those He loves and accepts them as children. In the book of Proverbs 3:12 “because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as father the son delights in” That is why every one undergoes this process to become a strong and legitimate son. Heb 12:8 “If you are not disciplined, then you are illegitimate and not true sons”. He does for us as a father to teach and train because he is deeply concerned about our development. Let us meditate how King David was chastised and received the blessings of Grace.

God chastise his children gently: - II Samuel 12:13,14.

Many of us are thinking that once we become children of God, we will not be punished even if we are commit sin, and simply asking forgiveness from God will be enough. Let me classify one thing in this step. Of course we will not receive the wages of sin that is eternal death because our Lord Jesus Christ who paid the price on the cross. But we must receive the dues on the earth (Proverbs 11:31). Remember if we are not chastised for what we have done, which are contradictory to our Christian life means; we will loose the relation of children and father relations (illegitimate son).
Though the children of God ask forgiveness, God chastise them gently. To settle the account on this earth itself. The measurement of the chastisement varies from person to person according to Mark 4:24 “with the measure you use it will be measured to you” That’s what David got in his chastisement. Here I want to differentiate the chastisement and punishment “if anyone receives during the sinful life is called punishment, and if anyone receives after his or her repentance is called chastisement”. David asks for repentance from God. But what he got as reply is that in II Sam 12:13 “You are not going to die”. When we ask repentance, surely God will take away our sins but we will receive our due in course on this earth that is called chastisement. By commit up sin we make the enemy of the Lord show in utter contempt. And the fallen angel may say God is not punishing His children.

Why God brought His children’s sins in publicly while He chastise?

We must know sometimes why our secret sins are brought into daylight. Your secret sins would come out only when you become harder and harder without repenting. On King David’s life, God waited for long time for his repentance but he became harder and harder then He rebuked him publicly through Nathan. II Samuel 12:1.
1.When we despise the word of God: -
Some times we might not have committed sin like King David but if we despise the word of God certainly we will face the consequences. On many occasions God might have warned through His word and the servant of God. Even then we ignore those warnings and try to cover and become harder and harder then God brings out what we do in secret. God anointed you, and called you as a royal priesthood and delivered you from the slavery of sin and darkness and to live holy life. In I Thessalonians 4:7 “For God did not called us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” King David despises the word of God by covering his sins and forgets to live a holy life.
2.When you struck down your brother by the enemy of God:
Many times we don’t like our brothers when we are in sinful affairs and try to strike them through somebody else who is the ungodly. Though your sins are not like David but if you instigate through some one else like ungodly men to trouble your brother, because you think that he will be the hurdle for your wrongdoings. Some they struck their fellow brother and seeing it from far, like an innocent man. God hate all these attitudes, you can’t hide your sins for long time. In this way you rebel to repent then God will bring your sin out to be known by every one. This is what happened to King David. Think your self now and repent before your sins known to publicly. How shame it would be if it happened in your life. God wants his children to repent and come back to their holy life.

God Compensate with blessings of grace: - II Samuel 12:24-26,29

1. King David lost his son on his chastisement but God gave him a son called Solomon who was the wise man in the world. When David’s son fell sick “David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and spent the nights lying on the ground”. But God rejected his prayer and his son died and he accepted that loss patiently. Then he got up, washed, put on lotions, he changed his cloth and went in to the house of the Lord and worshiped. Put yourself in that position and see how you will react when your prayer is rejected. Many of us are not able to forget what we lose in our life. God wants you to accept that consequences to receive the blessings of grace and go forward in your spiritual life. The word of God says in the same chapter 12 “Lord loved him”. Because he loved him, He sent his word through servant of God. God compensated with another son who was so wise in the world called Solomon. This is the blessing inside the house as the compensation from God.

2. In the mean time God also blessed King David by taking victory over the city Rabbah. David got blessings inside and outside of his house. It represents that God compensates with inner blessings and outer blessings after chastisement. In spite of his failure David persevere in the chastisement then God filled him with blessings of grace. David repents and patiently accepts the chastisement from the Lord. Because he knows the Gods’ grace is better than life. In Hebrews 12:10,11. Says we been chastised because God wants us to share His holiness and produce righteousness and to live in peace. This is the blessing of inward and outward (Spiritually and fleshly) after chastisement.

Dear beloved children of God when you commit sin repent immediately. Proverbs 3:11 “my son do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke.” If God is chastising you for your sins then receive it patiently so that you will be compensated by blessings of grace and will share His holiness and produce the harvest of righteousness and live in peace. He is our holy father and loves you so much to be legitimate children.
