God is gracious to you
Genesis 6:8-9
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. (KJV)
I believe we all know the story of Noah who God preserve from His judgment (great flood) upon the earth. Let’s say if someone asking, “Why did God preserve Noah and his family?” What will be our possible answer? I believe most of us will refer verse 9 above and say “because Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations and he walk with God”. I believe that too many years ago until God open my eyes to see His wonderful truth which is found in the verse before that which is verse 8 “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD”.
I believe the only reason God preserve Noah’s life and his family IS because of His GRACE towards Noah. I am so glad that the verse 9 did not come first before verse 8. I believe God the Holy Spirit inspire the writer of Genesis to put these verses in order for our benefit today. If the verse 9 mention first before the verse 8, I think most of us will think that Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD because he was just, perfect in his generations and he walked with God. If that is so, grace is not grace anymore because grace is unearned, undeserved and unmerited favor of God.
I also believe Noah can live a life that glorifies God because of the grace of God upon him. There is power in the grace of God. His grace that empowers us to do His will. Only those who receive grace of God will live like Noah. We are just because we have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ and we are perfect in His eyes through the perfect work of Jesus on the cross.
Salvation is by GRACE of God through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s none of our own merit. Let’s take a look at these verses:
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV)
Is it not wonderful that the verse 8 was written first before verse 10? This is God’s divine order! We are saved by grace through faith (verse 8) then we can live a life that produces good works (verse 10) because we are created in Him. Hallelujah! Without Christ, all our good works (our own righteous deeds) is like a filthy rags (Isaiah 64: 6). He saved us because He is Gracious God. His grace manifested through His Son Jesus Christ who took our sins, our cursed, our infirmities and all the punishment which should be upon us. He nails all that at the cross. Through Him we are free, healed, forgiven, justified and perfect in His eyes.
Now, therefore NO CONDEMNATION for those who are IN CHRIST (Romans 8:1). God is on our side today all because of Jesus. Thank You LORD! Receive His grace and live a life like Noah did. His grace is sufficient for you. Noah’s name means ‘Rest’ in Hebrew. So, ‘rest’ in God’s grace. The opposite of ‘rest’ is ‘labor’. You will not find grace by ‘laboring’ with your own merit but by resting in the finish work of Jesus on the cross. For those who still ‘labor’ to please God, Jesus said:
Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
His yoke is easy because He has taken upon Himself your heavy yoke. Thank Him for all He has done for you. He loves you so much. Come boldly to Him and receive His grace (read Hebrew 4:16) today. God bless you.
